Accountant Position
Reporting to the Vice President Finance & Legal, this position will be responsible for a wide range of accounting and bookkeeping activities including invoicing, processing purchase orders, accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense reports, daily banking, payroll, fixed assets, general ledger reconciliations, preparing price quotes and making a variety of journal entries. This position will also assist with other projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Invoicing – Responsible for entire invoicing process: generate invoices; record receipt of payments; resolve customer inquiries; ensure invoices comply with contracts.
• Purchase Orders – Confirm pricing; create opportunities and book orders in SalesForce; maintain maintenance renewal status; update spreadsheets as applicable.
• Accounts Receivable – Contact customers to collect outstanding invoices.
• Accounts Payable – Responsible for entire payables process: create purchase requisitions and purchase orders; review, post in QuickBooks and pay employee expense reports; post in QuickBooks and pay vendor invoices; maintain current vendor data; prepare check runs.
• Payroll – Process bi-monthly payroll reports including posting journal entry in QuickBooks.
• Taxes – Prepare quarterly tax payments and annual 1099s.
• Banking – Responsible for daily and monthly banking activities: prepare deposit slips and delivery of checks to bank; prepare bank account reconciliations.
• Fixed Assets – Record and track fixed assets: post fixed asset purchases in QuickBooks and maintain schedule of fixed assets including depreciation and amortization.
• Maintain company's books & files: prepare a variety of journal entries and schedules; maintain a variety of files.
• Closing the Books – Assist with closing the books as requested including maintaining and reconciling spreadsheets/subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
• Other – Provide support for other projects as requested.
Experience:
• 2-5 years accounting experience in corporations using GAAP accrual accounting required.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in QuickBooks and Excel, are essential.
• Knowledge of SalesForce is a plus.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills essential.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must perform well under time constraints.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff and excel as part of a team.
• Willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
Education:
• Prefer BS degree in accounting but may have BA or BS with demonstrated course work in accounting.
