Overview:
The Director of Product Operations Communications plays a dual role: directly creating communications that increase the impact of key Product Operations executives and overseeing the internal communications team that informs and aligns over 4500 Product Operations employees around the globe. While strategic leadership is key, this is most definitely a "working manager" role for a seasoned executive communications professional. This position requires the ability to simplify and tune complex technical material for a range of different audiences, educate and inspire through stories and analogies, and structure discussions in a way that is compelling and memorable. This position reports to the VP of Product Strategy and Operations.

Responsibilities:
Executive Communications:
• Serve as trusted advisor to the EVP of Product Operations in the development and delivery of presentations and talks for customer, investor, influencer, partner, and internal events.
• Research and propose presentation flow and storyboard for review with EVP; with minimal direction, develop compelling slide content and speaker notes or script.
• Develop written communications as required by EVP.
• Build effective relationships with Product Operations leadership team.
• Understand and stay current with product plans, roadmap, strategy and vision.
• Track ProdOps executive speaking engagements, and coordinate with event managers to gather understanding of audience, goals, themes, logistics, and production details required to ensure a success.
• Provide presentation development/coaching to other SVPs in Product Operations as needed.
• Direct event planners to the optimal executive speaker for different events and topics.
• Share and coordinate content with Executive Communications virtual team to maximize Executive message alignment.
• Partner closely with Exec Comms team to help drive communications initiatives.
• Where possible, measure communication impact/effectiveness and provide constructive feedback to executives.
Internal Communications Supervision
• Direct efforts of Product Operations Internal Communications team.
• Provide Internal Communications team with knowledge, context, advocacy and resources to successfully drive employee alignment and engagement.
Communications Skills & Resource Building
• Research and introduce new ideas, tools, and delivery skills for executive-level content.
• Create and run programs to improve employee and executive speaking skills.
• Maintain repository of transcribed/scripted executive communications for internal use.
Message & Brand Alignment
• Learn and apply NetApp brand and editorial standards.
• Provide Product Operations input for corporate and marketing programs as required.
• Collaborate closely with Corporate Marketing functions to develop integrated messaging programs and content.
Skills
• Facility for interacting, advising, and working with Fortune 500 C-suite executives.
• Proven ability to absorb large amounts of complex information and distill it into compelling, clear, consistent concepts that will be understood and remembered by large and diverse audiences.
• Strong public speaking and coaching skills.
• Superior aptitude for visual communications.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong people and project management skills.
• Ability to work with minimal direction in a changing environment, managing multiple assignments with concurrent deadlines.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word; some proficiency in Photoshop helpful.
• Excellent knowledge of communication strategy, tools, operational processes, and execution.
• Flexibility to travel, 3-4 times annually.
• Willingness to be readily available whenever needed to deliver within required timelines.
Experience
• 10 years of corporate communications experience plus at least 3 years as a senior executive communications specialist.
• 5 years of experience leading senior managers and teams.
• Experience in successfully building communication content and driving core messages through diverse and geographically distributed audiences.
• Success in driving internationally relevant communication programs and content.
• Experience communicating with and for engineers.
• Experience working cross-functionally and with virtual teams to drive alignment and execute complex projects.
• Experience with developing budgets, predicting project costs, managing vendors, and managing teams to a budget.
• History of learning and adopting new tools and approaches to improve executive presentation effectiveness.
• Experience in handling confidential information.
• Proven track record of surpassing objectives and delivering exceptional results.
• Fortune 500 company experience preferred.
