The Center for Education and Human Services, at SRI International, conducts a variety of complex, large-scale research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects involving children, families, programs, teachers, and/or schools in the area of early childhood. SRI is seeking a Communications Specialist to lead the dissemination and communications efforts for a large, collaborative technical assistance project working with state agencies to assist with the enhancement of their state data systems for early intervention and early childhood special education programs.

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for internal project communications and external marketing, communications, and dissemination of the project (and other related) activities and products. The communication specialist will have a unique opportunity to create the goals, expectations and measures of success, and to oversee and assist in evaluating the project�s communication and outreach activities. The communication and dissemination goals of this project are for our stakeholders to be actively sharing, mentoring, and guiding one another and engaged in discussing and using our tools, products, activities, and conferences for program improvement.

Specific responsibilities include:
� Lead the design and execution of innovative and high impact communication objectives, plans and strategies. Identify the best way to reach the target audience for each activity and product. These could include use of listservs, website, social media, online and in person meetings, workshops, and communities of practice.
� Manage the final stages of the development and branding of technical assistance products, resources and activities including the review and approval process. Examples of these products and activities are reports, case studies, webinars, conference presentations, online learning modules, etc.
� Work with project teams to ensure the products, tools and activities have a consistent look and feel, and are 508 compliant .
� Work with project leadership on the website to provide consistent branding, look and feel, messaging, usability, and evolution and maintenance as content grows, and to ensure content is current and reflects best available information in the field
� Work collaboratively with the internal web team at SRI responsible for website development, guiding them to prioritize tasks.. Use web analytics and the outcomes of evaluation to make adjustments to the website communication strategy.
� Explore and implement as appropriate other marketing and distribution channels to bring innovative communication methods and strategies to reach our target audience such as newsletters, video, virtual and live special events, use of emerging social media channels, etc.
� Explore better ways to improve communication across internal teams to ensure all staff are kept informed and engaged

Requirements:
� A minimum of a bachelor�s degree, preferably in Marketing, English, Communications or a related discipline.
� 5-7 years of increasingly responsible marketing communications experience managing communication and dissemination for large-scale projects with a target audience that is challenging to reach.
� Demonstrated understanding and experience directing and working with both traditional (e.g. brochures, events) and new communication strategies (e.g. new media channels) to promote client access to our technical assistance products and services.
� Excellent written and oral communication skills.
� Proficient in MS Office programs, understanding of web development tools and software and terminology, proficient in all widely used social media platforms (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter) Working knowledge of Asana, Wikis or other similar project management tools.
� Ability to direct and assist in the creative process including oversight of copy, design, editing, and other support to the development of written communication (presentations, newsletters, training materials, etc.) for a variety of audiences.
� Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with many team members.
� General knowledge of 508 compliance.
� Interest in early childhood programs and disability issues.
