Position Description:
The Development Assistant provides professional administrative support to the Director of Agency Advancement and the Development Department, and has primary responsibility for tracking and acknowledging gifts, generating customized reports, managing meeting logistics, coordinating a selection of donor appreciation events and actively participating in the strategic and tactical activities of the department. S/he is that rare individual who is keen on numbers, spreadsheets, dashboards, and metrics, and has an inspiring way with people. S/he tracks progress at all levels and maintains confidentiality with regard to sensitive research. S/he drafts grant proposals, tracks grant impact, and reports to foundations on grant outcomes. Our team works to increase our agency�s fundraising sophistication and revenue contribution, enlisting marketing and program departments to create a culture of fundraising awareness and the collateral materials to ensure success. Responsibilities:
Data management
� Maintain and update donor databases, including but not limited to campaign and annual fund tracking, updating donor profiles as needed, entering gifts, pledges and staff/solicitor notes
� Assist in cleaning and transitioning data from our previous donor database Exceed Premier to our new platform through NetSuite

Gift processing
� Process cash, credit card, stock, wire transfer, and other gifts, and ensure all gifts are accurately acknowledged in timely fashion
� Prepare gift statements, and follow up with donors regarding outstanding signed pledge agreements and overdue pledge payments as necessary
� Perform monthly reconciliation with accounting department, and provide monthly reports of donations for both OFJCC and TKCJL entities.

Reporting
� With Director of Agency Advancement, develop grant applications and periodic reports to demonstrate grant impacts as required by funders. Track reporting requirements and ensure they are met
� Write program-specific reports for donors providing contributions directed toward specific purposes
� Provide periodic updates of fundraising progress for board and leadership staff
� Create and facilitate donor reports, including accurate donor lists for Annual Report, catalogues, donor scroll, etc.
� Generate various other reports as needed

Stewardship
� Coordinate annual fund communications, including solicitation letter mailings, electronic communications, etc.
� Coordinate donor receptions and other donor appreciation activities, i.e. birthday cards, Rosh Hashanah honey, etc.
� Employ a customer service orientation in anticipating and responding to donor needs and requests
� Support other fundraising and community events as needed

General
� Provide wide-ranging, multifaceted administrative support to assist with planning and carrying out various fundraising activities, including assistance with meeting preparation, event logistics, mailings, and general administrative support
� Support individual program departments with directed giving campaigns to Cultural Arts, Israeli Cultural Connection, etc.
� Participate in agency-wide activities and programs
� Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where every member/participant is treated with dignity and respect in a friendly, personalized manner

Qualifications:
� Bachelor�s degree required with a focus in communication or business, or equivalent work experience in a fundraising environment.
� A keen interest in fundraising and community building with an ability to attain a comprehensive understanding of the JCC and the function of the agency advancement unit within the JCC structure.
� Strong project management and organizational skills: attention to detail, setting time lines, mapping milestones, meeting deadlines, and juggling multiple projects with competing priorities, as well as anticipating issues and solving problems creatively and effectively.
� Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and as a team player with energy, resilience, good humor while retaining a highly service-oriented work ethic.
� Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word mailing functions
� Flexibility to work some evenings or weekends
� Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Comprehensive knowledge of English grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, and editorial process.
� Strong interpersonal communication skills: excellent listening, analytical and interpretive skills as well as mature judgment, political acumen, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive and/or confidential matters.
� Other duties as required or assigned.
