Position Responsibilities – Summary

 

My client’s Applications team provides and maintains applications to support client-facing activities including Client Reporting, Relationship Management, Business Development, Marketing, and Product Management.

 

The Client Applications team is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst to be part of a global IT team supporting our Global Relationship Group (GRG) & Product Management teams. This individual will provide local user support as well as operational assistance and project management to a globally distributed team of over 500 users.

 

This position requires a high level of flexibility to manage the day to day application support requirement while working on strategic initiatives with business and technical groups to improve, expand and enrich the application environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·          The role demands a proactive approach to User support: self-starter attitude, inquisitive nature, and desire to seek and propose improvements and solutions locally, regionally and globally.

·          Provide comprehensive user support, particularly with respect to investment data and client reporting.

·          This individual should have the technical proficiency to support a cross-technology production environment and should be adept in writing SQL commands and navigating relational databases to resolve investment data issues.

·          Ensure the continuous availability and operational resiliency of a suite of Client Applications and related components, both internally built and vendor packages.

·          Partner with end-users and business managers to proactively identify opportunities for new and improved systems as well as provide training to users.

·          Establish and maintain effective client relationships by having a high degree of continuous interaction with the end users.

·          Take ownership of production incidents, collaborate with others on remediation, and manage these issues through to a satisfactory completion.

·          Participate in firm wide initiatives such as disaster recovery testing, security audits, infrastructure hardware & software upgrades or patches, etc.

·          Stay abreast of the “state of the art” as it relates to end-user support, both within Wellington and throughout the industry.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Business, Economics, Finance or related subject plus a minimum of five years business analysis or systems analysis experience in the investment management or financial services environments.  Previous experience must also include:

 

·          Technical proficiency to support a cross-technology production environment and should be adept in writing SQL commands and navigating relational databases to resolve investment data issues.

·          Solve problems in a comprehensive and timely manner

·          Demonstrate collaboration, client focus and relationship management skills.

·          Possess a degree of knowledge and understanding on supporting infrastructure.

·          Demonstrated ability to partner with end-users and business managers to proactively identify opportunities for new and improved systems and/or processes.

·          Good understanding of Fixed Income, Derivative, Equity instruments and analytic systems and data of an Institutional Client Service/Reporting environment.

·          Excellent written and verbal communications skills

·          Experiences with the following Vendor Applications a plus:  Salesforce.com; Trados (translation); Factset & Bloomberg (market data).

Keys to this Position:

1)    This is a role on the Client Application team supporting Client Reporting.  The Reports are for both internal and external purposes such as Fact Sheets, Commentary Letters and Performance Reports.  The candidate should have experience with Client Reporting tools. 

2)    This individual will interface with Relationship Managers and Analysts, Client Relationship Managers and Analysts and members of IT.

3)    Domain knowledge:  The candidate will have a strong and broad knowledge of multiple asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives, etc.). 

4)    Technical:  Must know SQL to query and extract the database. 

5)    Strong communication skills are required. 

6)     Candidates will have likely worked for other Buy side or Custodial firms.
