The QA Lead will own quality for his/her team, write test plans, review the automation of tests, prioritize bugs, and work closely with product managers to create acceptance criteria for development stories. This person will become a domain expert in their assigned area, and must develop and maintain excellent working relationships across multiple groups (developers, product, marketing, etc). The QA Lead also identifies and recommends improvements to processes/tools to increase product quality.
Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:
Help plan, scope, schedule and implement QA activities for projects of varying size and complexity
Contribute to daily Scrum standup and related meetings (planning, retrospective, sizing, etc.)
Partner with QA automation engineers to determine which story tests to automate
Enable the team to implement cleaner features by working with product owners to evaluate their stories and acceptance criteria for completeness ahead of the sprint
Prevent bugs by helping to move QA upstream in the product development processes
Manages bug flow, owning bug triage processes and promoting the fixing and validation of bugs
Facilitate earlier bug detection
Responsible for communicating status, metrics, and trending of quality for the team
Manage off-shore and contractor QA resources
Help identify and drive changes and improvements (i.e., not just a passive participant)
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
3+ years of software test experience (preferably with web-based applications)
Working knowledge of QA methodologies, testing techniques and approaches
Working knowledge of Scrum (XP, Agile, etc) project planning and execution
Passionate about quality and software testing
Demonstrated self-motivation and self-management, and ability to prioritize the testing workload
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical tendencies
Ability to take the customer perspective
Ability to quickly learn new areas, and identify and prioritize the related QA work
Ability to multitask, adapt and thrive in an environment of change and evolving processes
Exposure to /familiarity with JSP and HTML
Familiarity with C# or Java a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
