Accounting Manager – Securitization & Policy (Req#839) - Process/ Lean Project Manager w/Financial Services exp position – Atlanta/Covington, GA/southeast Atlanta
Under minimal supervision, the Accounting Manager – Securitization and Policy will prepare financial accounting and investor reports, and will perform accounting and treasury functions. The Accounting Manager – Securitization and Policy will ensure that reporting meets regulatory, GAAP, and guidelines and assist in leading various special projects involving multiple departments.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
•Maintains a working knowledge of current GAAP and understands accounting policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP
•Prepares financial reports in accordance with GAAP, regulations, and policies
•Prepares and reports financial statements to the Senior Management Team and Parent Company
•Responsible for ABS transaction accounting and investor reporting to fixed income investors
•Oversees cash positions for ABS trusts and corporate bank accounts
•Creates weekly and monthly revenue reports for accuracy. Ensures all new accounts, closed accounts, and maintenance items are properly accounted for in accrual system as per contract agreements
•Supports AVP of Accounting with annual external audit including writing notes to financial statements, helping to support policy positions, and developing supporting schedules
•Identifies internal control issues and inefficiencies and makes recommendations for improvements
•Responsible for reconciliations of accruals to actual figures and booking true up entries accordingly
•Prepares journal entries in accordance with GAAP principles
•Manages Company risk relative to position
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
•B.A. or B.S. in Accounting
•4+ years accounting experience at a regional or national public accounting firm with financial services clients or industry experience in consumer financial services
•Must have a thorough understanding of GAAP and SEC accounting principles and be able to apply these principles to corporate accounting
•Experience in ABS transactions and investor reporting
•Experience in cash management and bank relationships
•Must be able to research accounting literature to assist in determining proper accounting treatment for financial transactions in U.S. GAAP
•Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals including subordinate personnel are required
•Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and be proficient in reviewing financial data
•Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information
•Must be able to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications
•The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Certified Public Accountant
•Masters in Accounting
•Experience in Allowance for Loan Loss accounting
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Primarily located in office environment
