Position Summary:
The Systems Engineering group is responsible for the core engineering, systems architecture, and technical operations of the platforms for TV programming. The team is responsible for the design, build and development of large scale, resilient platforms and systems that encompass the all of our products and services. Solutions can consist of Disney proprietary software and services, commercial software, services as well as open source software. The team is also responsible for systems architecture, platform configuration management, capacity management, site reliability, application support, monitoring, and Tier 2 incident response. The Sr. Systems Engineer works as part of a team is responsible for planning and executing the integration of Internet based products and services for TV into a complex data center and cloud environment in an efficient, secure, scalable, reliable and cost effective manner.
Primary position responsibilities include evaluation, implementation and support for Internet based solutions - This includes any content delivery systems, hardware configuration, custom software implementation, cloud systems design, performance and process improvement, and systems documentation. This position is also responsible for planning and executing small-to-medium scale projects within the Technical Operations team. Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services that require planning, incredible attention to detail, and flawless execution.
Technology Experience Required:
· Ruby, Perl or Python, with experience in development centric environment.
· Experience with operational support for Java applications. Experience with JSP, ASP, PHP, JavaScript, and Flash
· Intermediate to advanced shell scripting skills
· Experience in configuring, deploying, and supporting web server platforms including but not limited to Varnish, Tomcat, Apache, PHP, Zend.
· Detailed knowledge of core internet and networking protocols including, but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
· Exposure to configuration management frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, CFEngine
· Experience with enterprise load balancers including F5, NetScaler
· Experience using monitoring platforms like Nagios, Zenoss
· Exposure to CDN concepts and providers
· Experience working with VCS like GitHub, SVN
· Knowledge of DevOps and Agile/Lean methodologies
