Position Responsibilities – Summary

As a Lead DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for researching, selecting, and deploying the best DevOps tools and practices to implement my client’s Cloud-based continuous deployment system. You will work with several Agile-based development teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of a SaaS-based highly available global Energy Intelligence System. You will manage and mentor a small team of DevOps engineers.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux, networking, server, and cloud systems
• Extensive experience with AWS or another cloud PaaS provider
• Extensive experience in configuration management with Chef or Puppet
• Proven fluency in one or more scripting languages
• 3-4 years’ experience leading and mentoring less experienced members in a 24/7 production environment
• Deploying, monitoring, trouble-shooting, scaling, and disaster-recovery of a large cloud-hosted system should not frighten you
• Understanding of fundamental technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, SYSLOG
• Proficiency with source control, continuous integration and testing methods
• Experience with log management and log aggregation
• Familiar with cloud security and best practices
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
