Director Talent Management & Acquisition position for Distribution Co. - Ohio area/Midwest Region of U.S.
This position is for the major distribution company based out of the Midwest Region of the United States.
Work shoulder-to-shoulder with clients on end-to-end projects from strategy to business outcomes with a clear focus on real performance improvement
• Top team effectiveness - intervene with top teams to enhance their collective effectiveness, strategic focus, decision making, and overall impact
• Assist leadership in understanding organizational dynamics and how they impact the company’s ability to develop and retain a skilled and strategically aligned workforce
• Assess and diagnose organizational dynamics including culture to generate evidence-based insight into the root causes of business, organizational, and operational issues
• Guide teams in the evaluation of the organization's capability, developing recommendations for focused improvement through role and structure design, process, strategy and goal alignment
• Drive alignment between strategy, structure, talent, capabilities, process and operations, and culture
• Enhance strategic thinking and practice, alignment, and implementation to ensure that company is robustly positioned in its markets of interest
• Lead the development and implementation of in the areas of strategy and goal achievement, business models, organization design and architecture, change management, and top team effectiveness, organization and people strategies, organization redesign transitions and culture change.
• Create strong partnerships with business leadership, human resource function, and business colleagues to build a community of practice that embeds OE capability across the company
Talent Planning:
Improve, implement and lead talent strategies and initiatives that support the growth and success of the organization
• Guide leadership teams through the talent review cycle, leveraging best practice methodologies in the assessment of talent against both current and future capability requirements of the business, segmenting talent by business impact, and diagnosing capability gaps.
• Develop and institutionalize a long term approach to a “best in class” succession management process that results in the identification and acceleration of key successor candidates for key roles within the company.
• Develop and implement a plan to ensure we have enough emerging leaders for the future and that this group is challenged and continually progresses upward through the organization
• Assess current talent development strategies and activities, develop a multi-year future organizational learning and development goal and design a roadmap to achieve it
• Work with the leaders of strategic initiatives to ensure ready talent for execution of business critical objectives
• Actively manage talent pipelines as a capability source for the company
• Make connections across departments and groups to facilitate the sharing of talent, expertise, ideas and best practices
• Manage and develop career roadmaps, leading efforts to implement and communicate such that employees can readily map and plan their personal career path across and up the organization
Learning and Leadership Development:
Enrich the process of learning throughout the organization by being a catalyst for professional excellence, innovation and high standards in the design and delivery of learning and development activities
• Ensure individuals in company talent pool have effective development activities
• Select and deliver competency based development tools that serve to bridge capability gaps, ensuring the development and delivery of integrated capability growth through targeted skill training, mentored coaching, and critical experiences in order to equip talent to successfully accelerate performance in time to meet the capability demands of the business.
• Monitor talent development efforts to assure alignment with strategic initiatives
• Lead the design, development, pilot and delivery of new learning and capability programs as needed
• Identify leadership skill gaps and create targeted training and customized activities to fill gaps
• Improve, maintain and apply the framework for core skills of selected strategic areas
• Support development of individuals through 360 feedback
• Know the key principles and practical issues related to career development and competency models
• Work with employees on career development options
• Provide input into annual plan and budget to execute talent development plans
Talent Acquisition
Develop, lead and implement global strategic and innovative strategies for acquiring talent, including new technology platforms (applicant tracking systems, electronic document management systems) and redesigned processes to allow for creative and cutting edge solutions.
• Partner closely with HR and business leaders to proactively identify enterprise-wide talent needs and implement and build comprehensive strategic hiring plans focused on identification of key roles and building of effective talent pipeline to ensure qualified candidates are available to meet the needs.
• Lead, develop and motivate talent acquisition team to drive results to the next level, developing quantitative and qualitative metrics (cost per hire, applicant flow data, time to fill etc.) to ensure process improvement and using this information to identify trends, drive change, and assess overall department progress.
• Provide management and/or employees with education and consultation pertaining to existing and newly developed talent acquisition processes and practices. Specifically, effective sourcing practices, job descriptions, recruitment, interview guides, and optimal on- boarding practices.
• Develop effective working relationships, communication and partnership with business leaders in order to develop, lead, and manage the recruitment process.
• Develop competency based interview guides
• Responsible for on boarding process, inclusive of reference checks, and background screens; manages the acceptance and declined offers of all candidates.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Certifications/Licenses: preference given to individuals with experience with Lominger materials, continuous improvement, and/or workforce planning
• Proven hands-on skills in strategic and systems thinking, business analytics, business and process modeling, influencing and process consultation, project management, interpersonal dynamics, facilitation and coaching
• View talent as a key competitive differentiator and see the importance of the lifecycle approach to managing talent so the business results are achieved
• Extensive 'toolkit' of practical tools for business, strategy, organization, operational performance improvement interventions
• Application of sound business analytics, and behavioral science to organizational problems
• Extensive large scale whole systems project management experience and expertise
• Proficiency in Capability Development theories, philosophies and methods
• Demonstrated expertise in coaching, teaching, and providing feedback at the executive level
• Ability to negotiate and influence within a matrix organization
• Demonstrated initiative to analyze and resolve problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends/ consequences and create innovative strategies
• Executive presence with the ability to effectively influence and drive change across all levels in the organization
• Global experience and mindset
• Complex Change management
• Is committed and engaged in doing the best job possible, improving the performance of people , and being a positive influence
• If not proficient in the principles of Continuous Improvement, willing to learn and practice
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
• Advanced Degree in Management or Behavioral Sciences preferred
• 12+ years of experience in organizational consulting with strong emphasis on strategy, organization architecture and design, talent strategy, complex change management, and operations improvement
