Senior Staff Thermal Engineer @ Huawei/Futurewei
Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced thermal & acoustical technology research from component to room level
- Provide innovative thermal cooling solutions and architectural designs for the next generation telecom and computing products
- Perform conceptual designs and feasibility studies
- Coordinate with other departments, project managers, and clients to complete studies, review designs, and solve problems
- Formulate and execute plans to meet technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments
Qualifications Required
- MS or PhD in mechanical engineering and ample relevant thermal and/or acoustic work experience
- Excellent knowledge of heat/mass transfer, fluid dynamics and CFD, with a focus on electronic cooling
- Hands-on electronics industry experience, including thermal management at component, board, system, and room level
- Experience in system thermal architecture design for electronic products
- Experience in application research, evaluation, and selection of air movers, heat sinks, and thermal interface materials
- Proficiency in thermal analysis tools (Flotherm, IcePak, Ansys) and ability to perform complex thermal analysis to guide design
- Proficiency in the telecom environmental standards (NEBS, ETSI, ATIS) to assure design conformity with the worldwide compliance requirements
- Experience in testing methodologies and DAQ tools (LabVIEW) for temperature, flow, pressure, and acoustic measurements
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, Mandarin is a big plus, <5% travel.
Preferred skills
- Extensive direct thermal and/or acoustic design experience in telecom and server industry
- Extensive experience in advanced thermal management and in-depth understanding of thermal industry trends and standards
- Experience in liquid cooling, system engineering, and TCO
- Experience in mechanical design and design tools (ProE, Solildworks, Ansys, or similar)
- Strong problem solving and leadership skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
