The Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will be a decision-influencer by informing staffing decisions with acute knowledge of the function, organization and deep expertise of internal and external markets. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will apply specific business and labor market knowledge to help the organization and candidates reach optimal hiring decision.
The Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will leverage their expertise to influence hiring decisions and convey the business logic of recruiting recommendations. They will build pipelines using strategic sourcing and their ability to assess candidate quality, skills, and culture fit. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will then influence the employment decisions of such candidates and ensure new hires have skills to meet future business needs.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess the following competencies: knowledge of the candidate recruitment and assessment/selection process, strategic sourcing, building credibility and trust, critical interviewing, data tracking, analysis, and interpretation, attracting talent, exercising influence, business acumen, and collaborating with others. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will bring the voice of the talent acquisition strategy to hiring decisions. He/she will influence, not just satisfy, hiring managers and HR business partners in making optimal selection decisions balancing the short and long-term needs of the business.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Recommend and implement ideas and strategies related to recruitment that will contribute to the long-range growth of the company, implementing any new processes, fine tuning standard processes, and staying informed of trends and innovative recruiting techniques.
- Lead special projects/recruiting initiatives including assessment of best practices in recruitment practices, leveraging of internal sources of talent and identification of top performers for senior-level openings.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Assurant leaders, HR, vendors, community organizations, and other TA team members to create a partnership that yields success, predictable results and credibility.
- Work cooperatively with all members of the Talent Acquisition team to develop and implement recruitment activities, TA processes and skill development activities.
- Partner with hiring teams and be able to build effective sourcing, selection and closing approaches with an ability to manage candidate/client expectations through a deep understanding of value-added recruitment activities.
- Build and maintain a network of potential passive and active candidates through pro-active labor market and industry research and on-going relationship management; conducts in-depth interviews of potential candidates.
- Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all candidates, searches, hiring managers’ interactions, and other recruiting activities and accurate utilization of applicant tracking system according to standards.
- Develop and communicate a recruiting plan with deliverables, timelines and a formal tracking process.
- Interpret and apply Human Resources/Talent Acquisition-related policies, procedures and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience recruiting in areas of professional and leadership positions.
- Must have proficiency in full recruiting cycle components, including sourcing, qualifying, networking, assessing, agency and offer negotiation, closing, administrative components, job analysis, wage and salary trends, and understanding of relevant labor markets, relationship management, and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Must have experience in developing competency-based interview guides and defining skills and abilities required for a position, regardless of level. Conducts critical interviews to ensure a high quality pool of candidates. Partners with hiring manager to develop interview strategies that result in securing critical, niche, or unique talent. Should also be comfortable with creating a diverse workforce through strategic recruitment activities.
- Must have expertise in building and utilizing a variety of sourcing plans and tools, including proactive phone and internet research for an entire job family/function or business unit. Should have experience in engaging the hiring manager and team in sourcing activities.
- Proficient in utilizing an applicant tracking system for sourcing, tracking and managing candidates. (Taleo preferred)
- Strong proficiency in consulting with hiring managers, leveraging recruiting experience to influence hiring decisions. Provides recommendations and coaching to hiring managers on scope, steps and timelines. Works effectively to build relationships and ensure that customers are satisfied.
- Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision.
- Strong initiative and the ability to quickly learn systems, processes, and procedures
- Ability to travel as required 10-20%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of progressive corporate and/or search firm recruiting experience.
- Proficient in managing and prioritizing multiple searches, projects and client relationships. Drives a sense of urgency throughout the recruitment process. Looks for opportunities to remove obstacles and implements complex and unique recruiting approaches.
- Excellent project management, organizational and communication and negotiation skills are required. Must be able to collect and analyze recruitment data, and make recommendations about improvements in the recruiting process to managers. Must have strong presentation skills.
- Secures top-tier talent for the client. Ability to execute recruiting strategy, including employer promotion in the marketplace, candidate management, diversity sourcing, and interview process management.
- Must be able to manage competing demands while being extremely adaptable and flexible. Develops an understanding of project scope and ensures that deadlines are met. Leverages systems, technology, and other methods to stay organized during recruitment activities. Drive efficiencies around costs.
