The Director of Marketing position is responsible for all marketing, advertising, market research and public relations. Develops marketing strategies (for products and apps), provides research for new products and new business opportunities, analyzes results of marketing campaigns, and participates with Company management in the development of strategic and operational marketing plans. Identifies new marketing strategies and delivery methods. Creates annual marketing plan, including plan for catalogs, direct mail and email campaigns, Web site promotions, and other marketing media as required to achieve short and long-term revenue goals. Supervises design of all marketing pieces, ensures branding consistency, and clarity and quality of written and visual product information.
Essential Functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Produces and supervises the overall marketing plans and strategies consistent with the goals and objectives of the Company, including the development of the annual marketing budget, its close monitoring throughout the year, and the creation of accurate monthly statements which highlight variances in major categories from the existing plans and which present plans/ strategies to correct deficiencies or to capitalize on opportunities.
2. Responsible for coordination of all marketing and branding of promotional and marketing activities, including Website, online assessments, direct and email marketing, apps, as well as ensuring consistent look and feel for all products, including digital content, software, print, etc.
3. Selects and supervises mailing list selection for prospecting efforts. Develops and supervises the implementation of procedures for analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of the advertising/marketing operations, special promotions, and strategies and all marketing campaigns (analysis of results).
4. Works with VP of R&D, VP of Sales, and both internal/external reviewers to evaluate new product ideas and submitted materials. Stays connected to markets through participation in national conventions and tradeshows, and may bring new product opportunities to the VP of R&D and/or Sales attention. Is involved in all new product ideas and business opportunities from inception through to development to ensure that marketing aspects are considered.
5. Performs in-depth market research as it relates to new product ideas, and provides in-depth information regarding competing product, necessary marketing approach, marketing strategy plan, and sales estimates for new products.
6. Continuously elicits creative ideas for new and/or alternative ways to market Company products.
7. Participates in the process of developing long-term Company strategic direction and subsequent policies and practices for long-term marketing plans.
8. Implements comprehensive marketing plans for new products, utilizing most effective marketing method appropriate to targeted market(s).
9. Heavily involved in setting prices for new products, ensuring appropriate price position considering competition, new product benefits, targeted market(s), costs associated with reaching targeted markets, and other factors influencing initial pricing.
10. Responsible for annual catalog and direct and email evaluation, including assessment of effectiveness in obtaining new customers, increasing order size, increasing frequency of order, as well as periodic refreshment of catalog and mail copy pertaining to all products.
11. Evaluates distributor network, and assesses opportunities for expansion or contraction of distributor network. Develops professional associations with distributor network.
12. Periodically reviews all products and assesses opportunities for increased sales through marketing/advertising efforts, as well as potential direct selling opportunities to be communicated to VP of Sales.
13. Works closely with VP of Sales to develop and achieve annual sales target. Provides marketing materials and ideas to sales force, along with product focus for specific target markets.
14. Obtains appropriate support staff, manages annual operating budget for marketing department, and provides supervision to marketing staff.
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Marketing and/or Communications, MBA preferred. Ten (10) years or more experience in a variety of marketing positions, including research, product placement analysis and related marketing strategy, branding development, direct mail (including catalogs), email, collateral pieces, Web advertising, impact of social media, etc. Seeking an individual with knowledge of professional or medical products promotion, and emphasis on B2B or B2Professional marketing experience.
