Developer Advocate

We are seeking a passionate, talented Developer Advocate with experience promoting open technologies and engaging Developer Communities. This position will be responsible for promoting our platform and technology brand. Our APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are already in use by hundreds of individual developers and corporate partners to power their applications

The ideal candidate will have an established reputation in the Developer Community, be published and actively authoring, and receive frequent speaking invitations. Beyond expertise with our specific platform, the Advocate should be well-versed with current and emerging technology trends and be persuasively articulate when discussing these broader topics. The Advocate will also be expected to help influence internal stakeholders to support further expansion of an open platform and development of new products and services which assist our Developer Community in being successful.

Specific Responsibilities

Ensure the success of our developers and partners by interacting directly with application developers in person, our API support group, and e-mail.
Be the voice within Engineering to push for new API features and enhancements that enable the building of highly compelling apps on top of our platform.
Create and execute on scalable processes to support a rapidly expanding developer community across many APIs and languages.
Provide technical support for our APIs, language bindings, and authentication mechanisms (i.e. 2-legged and 3-legged OAuth) via e-mail, phone calls, and message boards.
Create documentation and tutorials, explaining new features and best practices for integrating with our platform.
Write code samples demonstrating how to solve common questions to start development on the right track.

Required Skills and Experience

Experience in a related role, such as Software Evangelist / Developer Advocate / Developer Relations OR a related customer-facing role, such as support, deployment, or sales engineer is preferred.
Deep technical knowledge and a professional software engineering background required.

3+ years programming experience in 2 or more of the following languages: Python, Java, PHP, C#, Ruby, JavaScript, Perl
Experience with and understanding of OAuth
Comfortable with both XML and JSON
Comfortable working in both a GNU Linux/Unix and Windows environment
You have shipped a high quality web application that used a 3rd party web service

BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
