In this position, the individual will be responsible for Unix/Linux systems engineering for SanDisk IT. The individual will also be responsible file system layout, backups and resolution of complex systems related incidents. The individual will work closely with the other infrastructure areas such as DBA, Storage, SAP Basis etc. to deliver high performance, scalable architecture. Design Unix/Linux systems for all projects and own project delivery. Act as the escalation point for resolving complex Unix/Linux systems issues. Create & maintain documentation for systems architecture and create SOPs for routine administration tasks. Work with vendors to leverage the value of our systems investment and research new systems technologies making recommendations on direction. Assist remote sites architect UNIX systems to meet specific needs. Capacity Planning of the UNIX infrastructure. Write and maintain documentation for relevant processes and procedures. Define and enforce Systems related Service Level Agreements.

This position requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years experience as Unix/Linux Systems Engineer/Architect supporting large applications in a complex, heterogeneous production environment. This position requires an individual with a very strong technical foundation and superior analytical skills. The individual also needs to be able to communicate effectively in all formats and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high quality output within tight time lines. In depth knowledge of Solaris, Solaris Containers, Sun Cluster and SVM or similar. Experience with Linux (RedHat or Suse). Migrations from Solaris to Linux a big plus. Experience with sendmail, DNS, LDAP, VMware etc. Advanced shell scripting, Perl etc. In depth knowledge of NFS, SAN, NAS, MPXIO. Performance Tuning, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of UNIX systems Issues. Knowledge in Various Backup/Recovery Methodologies and Strategies. Familiarity with various tools and methods for administering the Unix Systems infrastructure. Experience with Oracle database, RMAN, Netbackup. Background knowledge of SAP or other large ERP system. In-depth knowledge of associated IO, memory, CPU profiles. Excellent written and oral skills. Ability to operate independently. Experience working with offshore teams. Ability to handle periods of high stress and to multi-task.
