Oracle's Corporate Event Marketing team is looking for an experienced Community Manager and Social Media expert to assist us in more deeply involving and engaging the various communities who attend or are interested in Oracle's key events, including Oracle OpenWorld and JavaOne. This position will be responsible for helping to define and implement the community strategy working with key internal stakeholders, as well as evangelize community participation within the company as needed. NOTE: this is a contract position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
- Define, develop and maintain a global community(ies).
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the user experience, interaction, behavior, and understanding of the community at large.
- Foster the community and welfare of the members in relation to the business.
- Serve as the voice of the community and help keep the balance between business goals and human interest/needs.
- Working with internal and partner stakeholders, develop a strategic editorial plan and timeline that covers before, during and after the event(s).
- Working with key stakeholders, create content for blog posts, articles, newsletters, and other communications materials; create material for social media channels.
- Attend or plan industry events or meetups for the community(ies).
- Employ and integrate multiple social media channels (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare, Oracle Mix, etc.) to engage customers and developers.
- Work with content providers to build a cohesive editorial calendar.
- Understand how to influence SEO; tag and title content appropriately to take advantage of SEO.
- Monitor and understand competitors' community and social media strategies; recommend best practices.
- Actively engage the partner community in social media and community activities.
- Identify influencers (promoters and critics) and develop programs to positively engage them.
- Integrate into other relevant online communities and become an accepted and respected member of those communities.
- Identify and engage thought leaders and subject matter experts; recruit and develop bloggers.
- Do a baseline analysis of relevant current Facebook and LinkedIn pages, Twitter followers, etc.
- Regularly identify, document and analyze behavior and participation trends within the community.
- Ensure branding standards are adhered to in all communications.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators; use quantitative and qualitative analysis to recommend strategies and actions needed to improve community metrics; report out to management on a regular basis.
REQUIREMENTS
- Outgoing personality; comfortable with developers and senior executives; easily engages with people they've never met before.
- Strong communications skills, including writing, editing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience using the major social media outlets as well as blogging platforms (for example, WordPress or Blogspot).
- Interest in or experience working in high tech.
- Able and willing to occasionally work non-traditional hours, including some nights and weekends.
- PR or corporate communications experience a plus.
