In this position, the individual will be reporting to the SVP/Chief Strategy Officer. The VP of Emerging Markets is responsible for the development and implementation of corporate strategies which will increase market share and revenue in the BRIC and other emerging regions. The individual will need to understand and effectively communicate Company goals and will work in concert with SanDisk leaders and business owners to achieve identified results. The individual will work in a matrix role with other business leaders and Country Managers to develop strategies and operation plans to grow the business, and will work to build relationships internally and externally (customers/distributors/local team) to gain an understanding of the issues and influence the solutions. The individual will work with other parts of the organization (PR, Marketing, Finance, Ops, Sales, HR) to address complex issues which prohibit growth/expansion and must be able to balance long term market share goals with short term revenue/profitability demands. The individual must have the ability to identify and prioritize impediments of doing business in the BRIC/emerging markets and gaining market share, and will sponsor and push complex issues with the senior team (for example, development of compensation strategies to drive results; strategy alignment at the Company level; development and alignment of allocation models and decisions, setting up local manufacturing in emerging markets).

The individual will have a proven track GM record of growing business in one of the large emerging geographies, such as China, India or Latin America. The individual must know OEM and retail space and have the ability to operate at both the Strategic and tactical level, and must be a dynamic professional who can achieve results individually and through others. The individual will be a collaborative team player who is adept at working cross-functionally with peers and business leaders. Excellent presentation, negotiation and analytical skills are necessary. The individual must have the ability to understand the flash memory industry and the intricacies of SanDisk's business and will possess tact and the ability to communicate with various cultures and levels. The individual must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and then influence decisions which will align the Company's approach. The individual must be able to deal with a wide range of intellectual and practical problems with a large number of variables. Finally, the individual must have the ability to put the results and teamwork ahead of personal ego or personal gain, in order to excel at functioning in a matrix environment.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business; MBA preferred with at least 10-15 years experience in high tech. General Management experience (managing a business, with full P&L responsibilities) a big plus. The individual must have at least 5 years experience as a GM working with BRIC regions or must know China/India/Latin America markets. Strong preference for semiconductor experience; Flash memory experience is a plus.
