Review Customer source control drawings, specifications control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of the component.
Perform all necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, and pressure drop and flow analysis, etc. as required.
Prepare preliminary design proposal(s).
Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regard to our products.
Perform liaison function between Engineering and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems or improvements.
Work with the Quality Department to define problem areas and implement product improvements based on customer repair/rejection concerns.
Participate in engineering and general design review as required.
Refine and complete designs after design review meetings.
Prepare proposal documentation.
Prepare technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, components maintenance manuals, etc.
Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company.
Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production, accounting personnel, metal finishing and assembly.
Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work
assignments.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's of Engineering Degree or equivalent from four-year college
Four or more years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certificates Etc.:
Able to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
Able to write presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Able to make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and or boards of directors. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
Able to use computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
Able to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory.
Able to apply principles of logical or specific thinking in a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
