Description
The Merchandising Catalog Manager is responsible for taking lead in all merchandising product development projects and managing the merchandising production teams. Main responsibilities include:
* Lead merchandising liaison with Product Management Team (30%)
* Define product requirements/specifications of merch-impacting projects
* Work closely with PM and PMO teams to help drive projects to completion and push to production
* Review, iterate and sign-off on PRDs and/or User Stories
* Attend weekly roadmap and steering meetings to track merch-impacting projects and influence prioritization based on productivity, cost and impact/risk analyses
* Identify and drive backend system and process improvements/enhancements to improve productivity and efficiency (25%)
* Manage and develop teams effectively to produce high quality work with aggressive numbers and deadlines (35%)
* Manage production schedule; coordinate with Sr Merchandising Managers to plan for resource allocation (10%)
The ideal candidate possesses a strong desire to build a high performance team and has proven ability to motivate and develop a young team with varying levels of experience. S/he must have a strong interest and relevant experience in product development, strong communication skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. S/he also must show ability to lead, take initiative and adapt to changing schedules and tasks. A "can-do" attitude with full accountability is a must for this position.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage production teams to successfully launch new products with minimal errors
2. Merchandising liaison with Product, Engineering and Engineering QA teams
3. Work with team members to identify areas of growth and career development
4. Manage back-end processes and data to ensure smooth and efficient workflow
5. Manage training process/onboarding for new hires
Experience:
1. Minimum education level = Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2. Team management experience a must
3. Experience in product development a plus
4. Experience in a retail company (stationery, baby, wedding or gifts) a plus
5. Experience in an e-commerce company a plus
6. Prior experience with a start-up a plus
Knowledge, Ability, Skills:
1. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator and Photoshop)
2. Working knowledge of SQL a plus
3. Knowledge of Dreamweaver/HTML a plus
4. Knowledge of digital printing technology and print production a plus
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills- ability to effectively and concisely communicate
6. Excellent computer and Internet skills with high proficiency in all MS Office applications
7. Completely accountable and willing to do anything to get the job done
8. Must be detail-oriented, highly organized and resourceful
9. Ability to work efficiently within a team environment and willing to go above and beyond to produce excellent work
