Senior Product Marketing Manager – Gene Expression, Microarray Platforms & Applications
is responsible for executing strategic product management associated with current and future microarray instrument platforms and related applications. You will define and champion the product line instrument strategy and drive the execution of a microarray platform and applications roadmap for use in basic research, academic and commercial laboratories. You will be responsible for the full product lifecycle to include product requirement collection, through launch and commercialization, financial analysis and forecasting for new and existing products and manage the day to day instrument sustaining and quality issues. The role requires knowledge of the life science research market, microarray imaging instrumentation, strong technical and product marketing skills, and strategic thinking. This position includes heavy interaction with customers, sales, and product development personnel. You will be responsible for the development of strategic and tactical marketing plans to create demand and maximize sales of the assigned product lines. You will also work closely with Marketing Communications and the Commercial Marketing teams to drive demand via marketing programs and creation of marketing collateral.
This position will be the central point of business accountability for product management and business activities pertaining to the gene expression instrument portfolio and the ideal candidate would possess a minimum of 5 years of product marketing experience in the life science or diagnostic markets managing instrumentation; a background in biological sciences; and an understanding of Gene Expression analysis techniques. A proven record of successful product management and commercial launch is required. Equivalent time directly involved with Gene Expression in a life science laboratory will be considered. Must possess effective communication, relationship, and influencing skills. Ability to work with others, be open minded, understand other points of views, and direct execution through collaboration as well as a positive can-do attitude is key. Product development experience includes formation and input into financial business cases, product forecasting, and market research, voice of customer, product requirements development, core team business leadership, and new product launch activities.
This role interacts with all internal functions as well as customers, thought leaders, and global field-based personnel.
Position Requirements
Strategic product management and product lifecycle activities associated with existing and new products within the gene expression category and specifically microarray instruments & applications.
Demonstrated experience and development of product strategies and associated marketing tactics including promotions, pricing and channels.
Management of P&L for product line forecasting and support delivery of associated revenues
Ability to partner closely within a team environment and with field sales teams and global business leaders to align strategic priorities and ensure a balanced approach to current and future product development activities.
BS/BA or higher with experience in molecular biology or related scientific discipline
MBA a plus
5 year+ related experience in marketing, sales, or program management
