The Marketing Database Analyst is responsible for the technical execution of routine to moderate marketing campaigns, including campaign design, list execution, campaign performance measurement, and campaign analysis, and assists in the execution of more complex campaigns. Also assists in process/environment improvement and vendor management activities.
This analyst role requires a mid-level degree of skill and experience including strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership ability, coaching and teaching.
- Campaign Design: Advises on and applies statistical campaign cell design, including identification and holding out of control groups
- List Execution: Builds and applies database logic and filters for the generation of customer lists using the company’s Campaign Management software tools
- Performance Measurement: Measures the operational performance of campaigns (e.g., open rates, take rates, etc.) and enables the measurement of financial performance of campaigns (NPV, ROI, etc.)
- Campaign Analysis: Performs routine analysis on campaigns to assist in the examination of drivers of campaign performance and works with modeling resources to develop and apply campaign response models. Works with Direct Marketing and stakeholder teams to investigate and describe drivers of campaign performance
- Process / Environment Improvement & Vendor Management: Works with senior team members to identify and implement improvements to campaign execution processes to improve efficiency & effectiveness with IS to manage and improve the technical environment around campaign execution, and as required, may work with key execution vendors to manage tools and execute key program campaigns.
Requirements:
Proficiency in SQL programming and familiarity with business intelligence (BI) tools such as Cognos, Business Objects or OBIEE is a plus; aptitude / willingness to learn SQL and use of BI tools required
- A strong level of general business acumen, including exposure to basic statistics, finance, and/or economics, as demonstrated through experience and/or education
Overall, must have the ability to think broadly and critically about a quantitative analytical problem and apply business, industry, and company acumen to developing and testing hypotheses in the solution of that problem.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to take on some leadership responsibility, as required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a relevant analytical field, or 2-4 years experience coupled with an advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; Master's degree in a relevant field a plus.
- Proficiency in a campaign management tool such as Unica or Aprimo is a plus - willingness to quickly learn required.
- Moderate to advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills
- Significant knowledge of the wireless industry or other industry with similar analytical structures is a plus.
