Senior Interactive Designer:

VMware is seeking a Senior Interactive Designer within Corporate Marketing's Marketing Services organization. This is a senior role and requires a high level of creative thinking, strategic conceptualizing, and implementation abilities. Working in a very fast-paced environment, this individual will need to be both strategic and tactical. Designs delivered will include those for online and interactive properties and must adhere to brand guidelines.

This individual will be both deadline driven and customer service oriented…not to mention passionate about his/her work. Organization is key – follow-thru and process from start to finish are crucial. Must be team-oriented; energetic with a constant flow of creative energy and highly collaborative. The ideal candidate has a positive "can-do" attitude and a contagious energy.

The strategic:

Working with the creative, and greater marketing services design team, proactively pursues new and engaging ways to represent VMware within corporate guidelines, while exploring that which is outside the box and proposing new ideas and designs to the organization.

The tactical:

Internal clients and deliverables include:

• Events: Multimedia assets for events; banner and asset creation for internal and external websites; advertising banners; graphics for templates, etc.

• Sales: Graphics, banners and screensavers for internal awareness campaigns, newsletters, and announcements.

• Web Team: Online assets such as banners, buttons, Multimedia/Flash pieces, video conceptualization, creation and conversion. Support new page layout efforts for vmware.com, create micro-sites as required for promotional or campaign support.

This individual will be able to:

• Design new web pages and sections for the corporate website using existing/new graphic elements
• Design and develop branded micro-sites (including programming in HTML, CSS and Javascript)
• Maintain site-wide design standards and contribute to the evolution of standards
• Design and develop interactive materials such as ad banners, email designs, custom animations and new web site concepts
• Understand Web User Interface and Information Architecture conventions and how they should be incorporated into the site and promotional activities to deliver the best user experience
• Design and develop rich media files (Flash and/or video) from concept through completion; including script development, ideation, storyboarding, asset creation and programming.
• Source and direct talent and manage production of voiceover recordings as needed for projects
• Edit and mix complex audio soundtracks including music, voiceover and sound effects
• Edit video footage and create basic special effects
• Convert videos using Adobe Media Encoder and apply video compression as needed
• Understand the concepts of branding and be able to sustain the brand and a consistent look-and-feel across all deliverables
• Design new and/or update marketing collateral such as interactive datasheets, whitepapers and corporate brochures
• Design new and/or update corporate iconography and diagrams
• Utilize an exceptional understanding of color, optimizing images, the capabilities of web browsers across multiple platforms, and the constraints involved in designing for online media

Required Skills and Education:

• 4-year degree in Graphic Design/Design Communications or similar
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Master Suite of products including: Flash, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, Soundbooth, Dreamweaver, Media Encoder or similar
• Strong understanding of web technologies and how to design for them (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, etc.)
• Solid graphic design principles – layout, typography and color theory
• Knowledge of User Experience including Information Architecture and User Interface design
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and problem-solving skills
• 5-10 years experience as a designer; B2B/Consumer space
• Desire to continue learning and willingness to embrace new skill sets
