Longview offers all of the advantages of a small town but approximately one hour drive gives you access to Portland, Oregon, the Pacific Ocean, and the Cascade Mountains.<br /><br /> Positions offer exciting opportunities to make a positive impact on student learning and our community including participating in campus and community activities, professional development, and collaborating with other faculty and staff.<br /><br /> Salary: Starting salary is $44,635 - $52,832 depending on education and experience with increases to $65,713 based on professional development units as it relates to the current Lower Columbia College Faculty Agreement.<br /><br /> Closing Date: Friday, February 20, 2015 at 5:00 pm<br /><br /> Description of Position<br /><br /> Lower Columbia College is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and creative instructor to teach primarily in Cultural and Biological Anthropology. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach introductory courses in sociology or psychology and in other areas of anthropology or sociology. <br /><br /> Duties & Responsibilities<br /><br /> The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:<br /><br /> • Effectively prepare and present course content to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities<br /><br /> • Competently incorporate instructional technologies in course delivery, both face-to-face and online<br /><br /> • Provide quality instruction, including day and evening hours<br /><br /> • Provide individualized support to promote student success <br /><br /> • Provide academic advising to students <br /><br /> • Assess, evaluate and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes <br /><br /> • Perform ongoing program and college assessment and accreditation activities<br /><br /> • Maintain currency of course content and materials, including course syllabus<br /><br /> • Actively foster effective learning communities<br /><br /> • Effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team<br /><br /> • Participate in department and college activities and meetings<br /><br /> • Maintain ongoing professional development<br /><br /> • Other duties as assigned<br /><br /> Minimum Qualifications<br /><br /> • Master's degree in Anthropology with graduate course work in sociology or psychology<br /><br /> Preferred Qualifications<br /><br /> • Three years college teaching experience with training and teaching experience in the four-fields of general anthropology<br /><br /> • Experience teaching courses in biological and cultural anthropology with education and experience appropriate to teaching introductory sociology or psychology<br /><br /> • Experience in curriculum development<br /><br /> • Experience working with a diverse population<br /><br /> Candidates called to an interview will be expected to conduct a classroom presentation on a discipline related topic. When scheduling the interview, candidates will be provided further details on the presentation requirements.
