Job Description: Brand Marketing Communications Manager

Full-time contract position

VMware is looking for a talented and experienced brand marketing communications professional to join its in-house creative agency and manage the creation of messaging and content that will have a visible and measurable impact on VMware's business and brand.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker as well as a great storyteller who can express VMware brand messages in a wide variety of materials. Reporting to the Editorial Director, Brand Creative, the brand marketing communications manager will collaborate with art directors, designers, writers, video producers, product marketing managers, and digital/social media experts, and engage with internal clients to understand their audiences and meet their objectives with strategic and creative work that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand VMware's brand image, identity, voice, and unique position in the marketplace and develop audience-tailored content that expresses the VMware brand in a range of media

• Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders; identify their strategic objectives and develop creative briefs with insights and background for the creative team

• Write and edit compelling copy for digital assets including video, interactive experiences, apps, and microsites, as well as for email, event themes and taglines, presentations, and collateral

• Consult and advise stakeholders; review content to help ensure the voice, tone, and messaging of marketing communications are consistently on brand

• Support brand architecture and product naming projects

• Ensure the effective expression of brand and corporate messages in sales enablement tools

• Define, document, and evangelize messaging guidelines and tools that help marketers and communicators apply the brand voice and express brand messages consistently and powerfully

• Monitor and analyze metrics

• Define project requirements, schedules, and budgets

• Manage agencies and creative vendors

Required skills and experience

• 7-10 years of experience in branding or corporate marketing communications on an in-house team or at an agency with B2B technology clients

• Thorough understanding of how brands work in the digital marketing landscape; strategic and analytical thinking plus the ability to execute are musts

• Proven record of B2B storytelling that resonates with technical audiences

• Versatile, expert-level writing, developmental editing, and ideation skills

• Familiarity with creating content for video, web, and interactive digital experiences

• Experience defining content KPIs and measurement

• Ability to manage relationships, influence, and collaborate across organizations at all levels; strong presentation skills

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines

• Cool under pressure, resourceful, reliable, attentive to detail

• Adept at learning quickly and coping with rapid change

• Able to apply independent judgment and initiative to resolve problems and recommend solutions
