Position Responsibilities – Summary

 

Our technology convergence between end user computing, mobility, unified communications and conferencing aspires to create a seamless and productive collaborative platform for the firm’s professionals.

 

The Conferencing Engineer works closely with end users, our real estate department, AV/conferencing support personnel, third-party AV architecture and engineering firms, and vendors to evaluate, design, maintain and manage conferencing capabilities at the firm globally.  Room designs are typically targeted to meeting and presentation rooms, video conferencing rooms, and auditoriums for applications including presentations, interactive collaboration, streaming video and produced meetings.  Increasingly, mobile conferencing and on-demand huddle capabilities are an important part of the solution.

 

This role reports to the Manager, Service Center within our Enterprise Technology Services organization.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·          Engage in user, system and support requirements gathering and analysis to provide design and architectural recommendations for conferencing systems.  

·          Act as escalation point for all conferencing service requests and issues across the firm.

·          Collaborate within the IT team and other service providers in recommending solutions for the firm’s conferencing needs.

·          Design and deliver audio, video and data conferencing solutions including Cisco endpoints, TMS, Crestron control systems, integrated room conferencing applications and cloud-based tools spanning mingle solutions to high-end, immersive telepresence use cases.

·          Responsible to take ownership of issues and projects to completion; work with colleagues and vendor tech support to deliver optimal solutions. 

·          Drive for issue prevention by employing root-cause analysis, issue tracking, trend analysis and status reporting

·          Perform break-fix actions, root-cause analysis and manage incident tickets via IT service delivery application

·          Coordinate IT staff and contractors to provide maintenance and repairs, moves and equipment exchanges.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Technical qualifications

 

·          Minimum 5 years’ experience working in corporate AV or IT

·          Highly technical, with the ability to evaluate situations, utilizing logical and decisive reasoning

·          Excellent attention to detail and well organized

·          Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast paced and high pressure environment

·          Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

·          Capacity to work on various tasks simultaneously

·          Solid foundation implementing and supporting enterprise-grade conferencing and AV technologies including codecs, cameras, audio systems, control systems, and state-of-the-market virtual conferencing solutions.

·          Initiative and ability to research problems independently, finding root cause

·          Strong knowledge of Crestron Room View with an understanding of the inner workings of the back end server, active directory, application and database services

1)    We are seeking a strong Engineer that understands the Conferencing Solutions landscape. 

2)    The candidate should have experience with some of the following technologies:  Crestron (Roomview is the Crestron Management product), Tandberg/Cisco which is now called Fusion, Some of the following Cisco technologies (C40, C60, MX200, Mx300), Vidyo (WAVE) Conferencing Solution, Codian, BSS audio conferencing, Skype for Business (formerly Lync Systems), Codian, Conferencing/Bridging/Gateways, Audio/Video recording, streaming, Polycom, Harris, Avid.

3)    This Engineer will lead people and projects.  The technical leadership piece will be a shared resources model (no direct management). 

4)    Vendor Management skills and the ability to lead Proof of Concepts is also desired.
