The Role: Accountant
The Location: Clinton, MS
Our company, Owens Insurance Agency, has been providing insurance coverage to both commercial customers and individuals throughout Mississippi for over 30 years. We also issue credit and provide financing for customers who need assistance paying their premiums. Our continued growth has prompted us to search for a detail oriented Accountant to perform the day to day accounting functions of our business.
What will I be doing?
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial data and record keeping as it relates to insurance policies written, cancelled, endorsed, and financed. This will include recording in Agency Systems, the Companyfs general ledger, invoices for insurance policies, payments made, returns, and other transactions. You will also be responsible for maintaining the Companyfs finance records for premiums financed. Daily tasks may also include making deposits, paying vendor invoices, and performing account reconciliations.
What skills and qualifications do I need?
œ It is preferred that you have a Bachelorfs Degree in Finance or Accounting, but equivalent work experience would be considered for the right individual
œ You have three or more years experience working in an accounting role performing various accounting tasks
œ You are a go-getter and are not afraid to learn something new
œ You have experience working with QuickBooks
œ You have worked in a small office and have been the primary point of contact for accounting matters
œ You have superb written and verbal communication skills
œ You are extremely adept at utilizing Microsoft Office with an expertise in Word and Excel
œ You are detail-oriented, resourceful, have a positive attitude, work easily in a fast-paced environment, can handle multiple projects and exercise sound judgment, all with a smile on your face
œ You have an astonishing level of attention to detail
œ You have experience in the insurance industry, this is preferred, but not required
