The National Football League is looking for a Digital Video Operations Engineer to participate in operating, managing and maintaining the NFL's video streaming infrastructure and related technologies. You will be a team player, having a solid foundation in encoding and video compression techniques in live and on-demand video streaming environments.
You will be responsible for day-to-day operations, support, maintenance and successful delivery of all live events. The ideal candidate can think outside the box and demonstrate enthusiasm exploring and researching bleeding edge technologies.
Responsibilities:
Configure, develop, test and implement appropriate codec settings for live video and on demand streaming
Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex video streaming hardware problems and implement corrective solutions
Conduct daily inspections of video streaming infrastructure
Maintain documentation of hardware maintenance, configuration, failures, removal, and installation
Maintenance and management of all streaming video and audio, including compression, bit-rate management, encoding and decoding
Optimizing video capture for video storage, access, and streaming
Maintain and launch new encoding parameters to be adopted by club and league partners
Requirements:
BS degree and/or equivalent experience
At least 3-5 years experience in configuring, support, and troubleshooting technology surrounding video streaming (live/on demand)
Experience with troubleshooting various operating systems (Linux/Mac/Windows)
Experience working with server software (Apache, Kulabyte, Flash Media Server, etc).
Experience with scripting languages; perl, bash etc.
Knowledge of television/video production environment (broadcast standards, content creation)
Working knowledge of encoding standards
Familiar with a broad range of systems components and basic networking and have a general knowledge of video infrastructure signal flow
Experience with digital video and audio editing software a plus
Solid troubleshooting experience is a MUST
Deliver and maintain technical support at the highest level of quality and professionalism
Setting up and breaking down of equipment
Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
Familiar with streaming technologies
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, well organized, and have the ability to work in our fast paced environment
Flexible schedule a must night and weekend work is required
A strategic thinker who can effectively make the case for taking calculated risks
Deep understanding of and experience in consumer-facing digital content space
A sports fan in general, and more specifically an NFL fan
Data-driven individual who makes decisions based on empirical evidence and can persuade others to do the same
