Trade Relations Associate Director w/Pharm exp. position - Central New Jersey

The Associate Director, Trade Relations will play a critical role in the creation and execution of the wholesale distribution strategy for our products, ensuring that we are well positioned for new product introductions and maximizing revenue and operating profit.  This person will partner with Marketing to develop Trade plans for new and existing products to maximize top line sales. This person will assume full responsibility for all trade and corporate accounts including negotiating profitable contracts and related details and bringing strategies to life with key trade customers. This person will also recommend and implement strategy for our current and future products with our distribution partners. There will be responsibility for implementing the Trade promotion, plan strategy, tactics and operating budget for the business and communicating that plan to the Finance team.

Responsibilities:

·        Develop the overall Trade business plan in conjunction with the brand management team, VP of Marketing and VP  Finance; ensure the development and implementation of effective trade strategies and programs by providing strategic and tactical leadership

·        Proactively identify (and present) new opportunities for our products and also recommend ways to improve our Gross-to-Net and Bottom Line Profitability.

·        Negotiate and manage the contractual agreements with wholesalers (DSA/IMA)

·        Notify Pricing Compedia and Customers of Price Increases.

·        Responsible for the 3PL day to day operations.

·        Manage the returns from customers; identify any variances from expected levels of returns and recommend any changes needed to Returned Goods Policy.

·        Review, approve and reconcile wholesalers DSA invoices to ensure accuracy.

·        Manage the A/R balances in conjunction with Accounting and Contract/Pricing. Act as main interface to wholesalers on any deduction/non-payment issue. Track DSO and proactively recommend strategies to improve our DSO.

·        Build relationships with the major wholesalers, pharmaceutical chains and pricing agencies across the US to ensure that key contacts are well informed about our products.

·        Identify appropriate metrics and tracking to ensure the right execution and success; analyze procedure volume, trends, growth, for the wholesale/retail channel.

·        Provide information regarding sales and stock levels and promote new product launches;

·        Manage and monitor the Trade budget, including promotional spend.t. Ensure targets are met with minimal over/under spending.

·        Manage all aspects of the business: tracking the supply chain, negotiating contracts, developing processes and procedures, and developing reports for internal and external stakeholders.

·        Manage sales-force communication and training regarding Trade strategies and programs;

·        Coordinate with Supply Chain on their management of product shipment logistics, inventory levels, and other related issues relating to the distribution center; act as the point person in the relationship with our 3PL

·        Work with the product management team to help develop, implement and analyze Trade initiatives to promote brand awareness and advocacy

·        Work with Group Logistics to ensure adequate product is available.

·        Ensure data integrity and adequate data flows between the company and distribution vendors and trade partners; develop and disseminate distribution related analytics and reporting to ensure accurate information and timeliness

·        Work with external vendor to keep all our state distribution licenses current.

·        Develop distribution related policies and procedures including but not limited to orders, returns and inventory

Requirements:

·        5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience working with wholesale/distributors; strong understanding of typical functions and procedures

·        Strong understanding of Trade processes and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements; experience working with a sales force

·        Ability to build relationships and expand our presence with wholesaler/distributors;

·        Relationships with pharmaceutical chains and pricing agencies

·        Experience developing and implementing plans

·        Experience managing budgets and expenses; knowledge of financial statements and budget management. Able to build business case for any proposed initiatives and present to upper management

·        Ability to analyze data and monitor wholesaler patterns and sales to drive incremental business

·        Ability to develop business cases and present financial data

·        Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills

·        Strong project management skills and abilities to assess trade-offs and synergies among projects

·        Strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively with people individually and groups: ability to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues; experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships across departments

·        Demonstrated contract negotiation skills

·        Strong analytical, strategic and influencing skills

·        Ability to develop accurate short and long term plans, forecasting, and business analysis

·        Ability to travel

NOTE:  Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
