Graphic Designer:

VMware is seeking a Graphic Designer to develop creative concepts and deliver innovative, cutting-edge graphics for our online and print properties. Working in a very fast-paced environment, this individual will need to be both strategic and tactical. Designs delivered must adhere to brand guidelines.

This individual will be both deadline driven and customer service oriented…not to mention passionate about his/her work. Organization is key – follow-thru and process from start to finish are crucial. Must be team-oriented; energetic with a constant flow of creative energy and is highly collaborative. The ideal candidate has a positive "can-do" attitude and a contagious energy.

This position requires the individual to work on-site in Palo Alto, California.

The strategic:

Working with the creative, and greater marketing services design team, proactively pursues new and engaging ways to represent VMware given the current guidelines.


This individual will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of branding and be able to sustain the brand and a consistent look-and-feel across diagrams, iconography, Web sites and printed materials
• Design new and/or update corporate diagrams
• Design new and/or update corporate iconography
• Design new and/or update other corporate graphics on demand
• Design new and/or update printed marketing collateral such as datasheets, whitepapers and corporate brochures
• Design new and/or update email and web banners
• Produce corporate and product collateral based on InDesign templates
• Possess an exceptional understanding of color, optimizing images and the constraints involved in designing for print and online media
• Prepare files for print and web hosting


Required Skills and Education:

• At least 4 years layout experience with strong understanding of typography and design principles
• Expertise in InDesign is essential, including layout production and template creation
• Extensive Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Knowledge in additional Adobe Creative Suite products is a plus
• Solid graphic design principles – layout, typography and color theory
• Ability to finalize files for print and web hosting
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and problem-solving skills
• Desire to continue learning and willingness to embrace new skill sets
