Crawford Group (www.crawfordgroup.com) is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Manager to partner with the Director of R&D Communications at our client in Palo Alto, CA. Working directly with the Director of R&D Communications, in this role you will be responsible for delivering against a global internal communications program for the R&D Communications organization.
The ideal candidate is a highly effective and self-motivated internal communications manager with an emphasis in web-based internal communications. You've worked to inspire employees through innovative programs and love seeing the output of great internal communications campaigns. You want to be part of a team that thinks creatively about ways to inspire your fellow colleagues. We're looking for someone who is creative, can move fast, and can think big about how best to communicate.
Specific Responsibilities:
Execute against highly innovative global internal communications strategies, messages and tactics that engage internal organizations
Synthesize messages from multiple sources/cross functional team members and make relevant for internal audiences
Provide expert internal communications counsel to diverse groups and senior leaders within the organization, comfortable making content and/or layout recommendations
Proactively build and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders across a range of businesses and geographies
Flawlessly execute on a steady cadence of web-based internal communications campaigns
Manage regular updates to the R&D global web portal, including content edits and additions
Oversee scheduling of a quarterly Town Hall meeting to include: logistics, presenters, invitations and applicable follow on activities
Skills:
5-8 years of corporate communications experience; must have internal communications-specific experience
Communications experience in media, Internet, technology is highly preferred
Prior experience working for a multi-national or enterprise size (2,000+ employees) company preferred
Experience in the high-tech industry such as networking, security or datacenter preferred
Comfortable adopting new content management systems/tools for web content submissions
Ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative to drive employee engagement
Excellent writing and editing skills are a must, with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative to drive employee engagement
Experience developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and able to form a cohesive and effective outcome from potentially incongruous facts (or lack thereof) and individual perspectives
Possess a strategic approach to problems solving; able to anticipate potential reputational issues
Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow time-frames
Ability to deliver against short-and long-term communication strategies while consistently driving tactical execution
Willing to roll up one's sleeves and get work done, even when at times it's outside the scope of the job
Keenly focused and able to pay painstaking attention to important details
Metrics experience; will partner with other communications teams on internal employee engagement results
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or similar
RATE: D.O.E; as W-2 employee of Crawford Group; benefits available
LOCATION: 40% onsite at client's office in Palo Alto, CA, 60% offsite/remote/telecommute/WFH. Local, S.F Bay area applicants only, please. No phone calls.
HOURS/DURATION: Part-time: 25-30 hour per week, depending upon experience. January 12, 2015 through June 30, 2015.
