Job Functions
• Installs, Configures, Deploys middleware components in the enterprise or cloud environment. Role requires engineer to write install/configure scripts using shell, python scripts. These scripts should be generic in nature and should serve as a general guideline for installing and configuring enterprise applications. Scripts must be for different deployment environments like test or production.
• Interact with other teams to understand their product configurations and then prepare install/configuration scripts that can used for different deployments.
• As an application architect, one is expected to go through the documentation of some of middleware components and come up with deployment scripts
Required Experience:
• Experienced in installation, configuration, upgrade, deployment and management of large scale enterprise applications in the datacenter. Below mentioned list is just a subset of applications - WebLogic, WebSphere, Jboss, Message Queue products
• Strong understanding of various deployment architectures: Master-Slave, Active-Active, Active-Passive
• Strong scripting skills especially Python and shell scripting
• Proficient in deploying applications in WAR, JAR, and EAR formats
• Strong aptitude for analysis and troubleshooting
• Experience rolling out release changes to production environments
• Good written and spoken communication skills
• Self Starter and passion to learn new things is absolute must
Preferred Experience:
• Additional scripting or software development experience in an administrative language (Perl, Ruby, AWK, etc.)
• Large-scale server configuration and automation (e.g., custom Expect scripts, Puppet, CFEngine)
