Crawford Group (www.crawfordgroup.com) is looking for an experienced Technology Writer to support the Global Communications team for our client in Palo Alto, CA. This consulting role is part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, for a 3-6 month assignment. The focus of the work will be on short-form content in support of both internal and external communications. The target audience for your writing will include B2B enterprise customers and internal field marketing and sales teams. The Technology Writer will work directly with subject matter experts in peer marketing teams to receive raw content that you will edit and refine for delivery through marketing vehicles including emails, newsletters, and social media.

Writing samples are required for consideration. It is important to demonstrate your ability to draft content from scratch and provide value. It is not enough to merely edit other people's work. It is critical that the Technology Writer improve upon the raw content that is provided to increase customer impact and business relevance. Turnaround time for stakeholder review needs to be efficient (e.g. 2-3 day turnaround, as opposed to 2-3 weeks).

The ideal candidate enjoys crafting content for a specific solution while also highlighting the larger context and business drivers. It is important to describe a higher vision through the use of technology in parallel with a solution-specific call to action.

Specific Responsibilities:

Assess the needs of different corporate audiences, sourcing information, and working with subject matter experts across the business to develop clear content for a variety of short form deliverables on deadline. May includes emails, invitations, web/reg site copy, flyers, and possibly short collateral pieces/partner briefs.

Ensure alignment to corporate brand tone

Management of stakeholder review cycles

Skills:

5-7 years' B2B internal and external marketing communications experience, writing through an agency, corporation or media entity

Must have experience writing for technology firms, clients or publications

Must have written content spanning cloud, virtualization, SaaS, security, data center, storage or enterprise networking

Exceptional writing skills (please be prepared to provide links or examples to finished work)

Ability to assess/understand varied audience needs and points of view

Ability to make technical information clear and easy to understand

Ability to write with accuracy and speed

Adapt content to multiple marketing platforms: emails, digital newsletters and social media

Proactive, energetic, efficient, resourceful team player with a dedication to excellence

Exhibits high levels of tact and diplomacy

Highly organized, results focused

BA/BS in Communications, Business, Marketing, Journalism or English

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel required

RATE: D.O.E., as W-2 employee of Crawford Group

LOCATION: Fully offsite/remote/WFH/telecommute/virtual. No phone calls, please.

HOURS/DURATION: Part time, 20 hours per week, May 12 – August 14, 2015.
