Position Overview:
A professional seasoned Sales Executive who will implement and manage a national sales strategy, based on a vision for the organization that will contribute to the achievement of the Westport LD strategic business objectives. This position will be based in Plymouth Michigan but require significant travel. The person will generate leads and conduct sales calls to potential end users of Westport LD vehicles as well as facilitate Leasing Company and OEM dealer relationships with those end users. Prepare, update and control forecasts covering projected sales, bookings and proposal activity/costs. Responsible for business plan completion, sales strategies and action plans for identified fleet targets of opportunity.
Position Responsibilities:
The primary objective will be Westport LD sales in all area/regions assigned by the LD business unit.
• Order completion, does not stop until vehicles are delivered
• Identification of sales opportunities that meet current engine specifications/chassis options
• Meet annual sales objectives – close business through sales channels or directly
• Develop/manage key sales cycles personally
• Support market development team in price/margin objectives
• Work directly with all major full-service fleet leasing companies to gain preferential specification of Westport products to all customer NGV orders
Identify and track sales opportunities by OEMs and local dealer network.
• Develop vehicle unit targets for each channel based on regional market assessments
• Identify key segments and customer opportunities in each region
• Work with the National Service Representative to insure existing customer satisfaction, recommendation and re-purchase
Communicates marketing requirements and works with LD Market Development team to develop programs for North America
• Conferences, tradeshows, literature, OEM and Distributor tool kits, Internet sites
• Support translation of necessary marketing materials
Ensures support in place to meet after sale customer requirements
• Work with National Service team to ensure maintenance and service training in place for technical support personnel as orders dictate
Develops/expands sales channel
• Support development of sales tool kits in collaboration with Market Development team
Manages business expenses to plan levels
• Ensure business is efficiently managed
Identifies and works with industry partners to promote Natural Gas usage
• Join appropriate trade associations/organizations to leverage HD business
• Speak at industry-specific conferences to raise awareness
Position Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in marketing and sales and/or technical sales support
• Bachelor's degree or post graduate degree in marketing, business or commensurate experience required
• Experience in the Light Duty OEM car and truck market, preferably with direct fleet experience
• Specific experience selling to large fleets and full service leasing companies
• Strong presentation skills are required along with the ability to create a positive company image
• Must have proven skills in working independently, self-motivated and goal-directed
• Must be agile, driven to win, decisive and have commercial acumen
• Very strong communication skills
• Sales and Project Management
• Experience in a governmental regulated environment and exposure to the natural gas market place would be beneficial
• Significant travel throughout North America
