Internship: Tech blogger and Technology tracker, Device and Material Librarian
Position Summary:
Samsung's User Experience Center (UXCA) located in San Jose, California is seeking an intern to support the Enabling Technology team.
Primary responsibilities:
-Maintain an internal blog and technology database to search, track and catalog relevant technologies.
Think like a more compact, technical, and highly focused version of The Verge, plus supporting database.
-Maintain an internal library of current mobile devices and novel materials. Candidate will maintain the library contents through a check-in/check-out system, advise on new additions to the library, and help to maintain a device review system.
Position would be 40 hours per week, for a 6-month period with option to extend.
Common duties:
Library:
- Maintain and add devices or materials to the library tracking system
- Track devices in the library system and within UXCA
- Check-in and check-out devices to library patrons
- Recall devices from patrons
- Search for new and upcoming mobile devices
- Review and recommend purchasing requests for library additions
- Refine and advise on new library tracking system features
Blog:
-Maintain and add articles to internal blog, technology tracking database -Aggregate links to external news, technologies. Filter by relevance to UXCA projects -Manage interface with IT to enable blog, database, and newsletter features -Additionally support short-term research tasks for technical feasibility -Coordinate with a geographically diverse team
Skills:
- Technical generalist with an unhealthy interest in mobile devices, sensing, UI
- Clear writing and communication skills
- Ability to sort bogus press releases from real technical advancements
- Top notch organizational skills
- Experience in Wordpress, SQL and PHP a huge plus
- User level experience with two or more of Mac OS X, Windows 7, iOS, Android, Windows, Windows Mobile
- Developer experience on Mac a huge plus
