The Role: Surface Mount Technology Process Engineer
The Location: Northern Los Angeles
Due to tremendous growth, a leading manufacturing firm located in Northern Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Surface Mount Technology Process Engineer (SMT Engineer). Our clients are acquiring more long-term products, which has caused a significant jump in demand. Our ideal candidate has likely worked in a smaller company where they participated in hands-on execution and taken part in conceptual planning of SMT processes.
The SMT Engineer will be responsible for cultivating and optimizing processes in support of SMT. They will conceive, develop and implement process improvements to increase yield and reduce defects. The SMT Engineer will conduct experiments and production validation runs as well as produce relevant production documentation and metrics.
Required Skills & Experience:
MS in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical or industrial engineering; additional business management coursework is beneficial
8-10 years direct experience with surface mount technology including management of multiple SMT lines
Experience in micro-electronics manufacturing
Ability to demonstrate broad knowledge base in SMT processes, technologies and equipment
Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing with unwavering commitment to continuous improvement initiatives
Superior documentation and technical writing skills with meticulous accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to conduct design of experiments and defect and failure analyses
Prior work experience in a small, dynamic organization, with a heavy ebb and flow of new product introduction and a significant amount of direct responsibility implementing processes
Management and/or leadership experience is highly desirable
