Within Hewlett-Packard Company, the Enterprise Group (EG) sells a standards-based, integrated portfolio of products and services to solve the complexities of the extended enterprise. EG is a US$20B business that provides servers, storage, networking equipment, and technology services.

As part of the EG Global Sales Strategy and Operations team, the Presales and Enablement Communications Manager will help drive the realignment of presales globally to support the New Style of Business. He/she will apply subject matter knowledge to complex business issues to develop and execute compelling and effective communications to drive the change agenda. We are looking for an energetic, creative, and motivated individual who can distill complex topics into crisp, clear communications which inspire and who will raise the level of that competence across the team. He/she will also provide strategic counsel to executives and will participate in cross-company and cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive employee, field, channel, and executive communications strategy, policies, processes, standards, and roadmap across a long-term horizon to drive desired behavior

- Be recognized as an authority and thought leader in communications and contribute to the development and adoption of innovative principles and ideas across HP

- Contribute to expanding the knowledge base within communications, which includes developing new methods, techniques, and criteria for developing and executing a communications strategy

- Establish clear, consistent, and compelling branding for Presales and Enablement functions

- Ensure key strategic messaging is well socialized, understood, and adopted

- Conduct appropriate research to ensure content is timely, engaging, relevant, and accurate

- Proactively solicit the "voice of" various audiences to drive better, more impactful content and communications

- Define and deliver communications in various formats, including executive presentations, speechwriting and speaker prep, customer presentations, memos, articles, blogs, talking points, presentations, speeches, and video segments for executives

- Select, manage, and develop agencies and contractors, manage budget, and work with editorial, digital, design, events, and media relations colleagues to ensure commercial-quality execution of all communications

- At this level, it is expected that this person will not only be a subject matter expert and thought leader, but also a team lead and mentor to executives and individual contributors for communications excellence.

Qualifications

Education and Skills:

- BA or BS in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or Business Administration

- 10+ years of experience in communications, journalism, or marketing

- Proven ability to manage sensitive information and confidential situations

- A "roll-up-your sleeves" person who can direct, lead, and do

- A creative/strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail with written, visual, and audio communications

- Superior knowledge and understanding of communications methodologies, tools, and vehicles with exceptional writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills

- Proven ability to develop measurable communications strategies and plans which link to business results

- Senior "story teller" – ability to take complex concepts and messages and transform into an audience-resonating story to produce high-quality executive-level communications for a global audience

- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of the company top to bottom, including listening, partnering, and consulting; high levels of tact and diplomacy to foster trust and credibility are required

- Excellent time management skills to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

- Team player who is also able to work independently and also to lead and measure virtual teams toward common goals

- Proven expertise in primary tools: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

- Proven experience with agency and budget management

Desired Experiences (but not required):

- Advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or Business Administration

- Facility in adapting writing to a variety of voices (i.e. speaking on behalf of)

- Experience with coaching or instructing with a variety of audiences, especially executives, on communications skills

- Experience with the issues, drivers, and styles within a Sales / Presales (technical selling) environment

- Command of emerging techniques, technologies, and other trends in communications

- Expertise with broad range of print and electronic communications vehicles — memorandum, white paper, newsletter, webinar, podcast, social media, video, mobile, etc.

- Expertise in secondary tools: Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, etc.
