Position Responsibilities – Summary:
My client has an immediate opening for a Senior Data Engineer to join their Big Data and Analytics Platform team.
They are building the next generation data services and analytics platform and need a Senior Data Engineer to help write jobs and tools to analyze their ever-growing data. A Senior Data Engineer on the Data Platform team is ideally a strong generalist with experience using NoSQL solutions. If you love solving scalability puzzles, working with large data sets and have the drive necessary to optimize performance of high-visibility smart grid and Energy Intelligence systems this is the position for you.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Design strategies for storing structured and unstructured data
· Write code in a variety of languages
· Assist in architecting software components
· Author and maintain technical specifications
· Love designing blazingly fast systems
Required Skills and Competencies:
· B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
· Deep Knowledge of a Current NoSQL systems (HBase, Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc…)
· Experience working with large data sets
· Big Data concepts such as map reduce
· Comfortable working in a small, high-growth, and fast paced development environment
· Experience working with AWS
Desired Experience:
· Knowledge of programming languages such as: Java, C/C++ or Scala
· Data analytics or Data visualization
· Kafka or other queuing systems
· Publish / Subscribe (pub/sub) messaging
· Experience building high-performance distributed applications
· Experience with Apache Spark
