This international industry leader has an immediate 6+ month contract opening in Irving, TX for a Linux Systems Engineer. Will be responsible for performing a hands-on role that requires a full understanding of Linux systems. Will be responsible for systems administration and providing communication and feedback to other team members. Will review and understand detailed business, functional and technical requirements. Will provide input into detailed project estimates and work plan. Will participate in development of detailed technical specifications. Will track and repair simple to complex defects. Will act as an intermediary for issues between corporate headquarters and satellite office. Will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience with installing and configuring Linux operating systems.
• Experience tuning virtual networking performance and setup VLANs.
• Experience troubleshooting performance and other VMware infrastructure issues.
• Experience with RHEL/CentOS 5 & 6.
• OS level SAN Experience: Qlogic HBAs, OS multi-pathing including PowerPath and multipath.
• Shell scripting such as BASH/Perl or Python.
• Ability to work in a team oriented support environment of OS services and systems.
• Experience maintaining computing environment by identifying Linux system requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring system performance.
• Interest in learning AIX and HPUX is a must.
• Prefer Kickstart experience.
