Position Summary:
The GUI Software Developer contributes to all facets of the development, maintenance, and support of the firm’s products and integration with third party systems and applications. You’ll be working in an entrepreneurial culture, directly with customers to design and implement visually impressive, clean, and easy to use interfaces to our software. You will help to create products that anyone can use and understand without effort or a manual.
You’ll leverage the experience of the community to select and advocate for the tools and platforms to enhance the cross-browser compatibility of our existing web-based UIs and enable support of modern mobile browsers. You’ll participate in the reimagining of our UI onto the tablet and mobile form factors, and then using the tools you selected, take us there. You’ll evaluate the capabilities of modern desktop and mobile browsers to replace our existing windows based call player application and build prototypes. And of course, support and enhance our existing products as we add new features.
Your focus will not be entirely on the front-end. Your work will include the middle-tier APIs of internal products and third party applications. You will design, use, and implement RESTful web-service APIs for our platform, used by both front-end GUIs and back-end systems integration, including the data layer.
This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering.

The successful candidate will be a technically proficient, self-starter with excellent communications skills and a demonstrated ability for self-directed learning. They will have strong opinions on code style, structure, and organization that facilitate reuse, understanding, and testability. They will care about software quality, not only in the desired functionality, but also in designing the system to fail gracefully in error conditions. They will desire and be able to discuss tradeoffs in design choices and how they affect the properties and behavior of the system as a whole. During design and implementation they have a focus on automated testing. They have an ownership mentality.

Required Skills and Competencies:
· A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
· A minimum of 5 years of development experience.
· A minimum of 3 years experience as a UI developer.
· Ability to take total ownership of assigned components.

· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
