Marin Software is experiencing significant growth and is seeking an experienced audit manager from public accounting to lead the Company's financial reporting, technical accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley processes. This newly created position will be a key member of the Marin's financial accounting team and will take on primary responsibility for all technical accounting research and its application to both internal and external reporting. This position will also play a key role in assisting the Company's sales team when structuring contracts and strategic arrangements. This person will assist in the management of the Company's public accounting firm (PricewaterhouseCoopers) during the quarterly and annual review/audit process, including driving the completion of the historical audits for 2007 to 2010, and quarterly reviews for 2010 and 2011. Additionally, the position will assist with the audit needs for the Company's foreign subsidiaries. The position will also provide leadership for the initial efforts to begin to strengthen the Company's internal controls as Marin drives toward developing and meeting the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and reporting requirements.
This position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to leverage an extensive background of technical accounting, SOX, and SEC reporting with the intensity and dynamics of a high-growth pre-public company. This position will report to the Corporate Controller and will initially be an individual contributor role.
Responsibilities
Lead all historical financial statement audit and review processes, including financial statement and footnote drafting, work paper leadership and/or preparation and coordination with PricewaterhouseCoopers
Research and analyze accounting issues and their application to internal and external reporting; summarize the resulting analysis and conclusion for both executive review and to record in the general ledger
Lead Marin's SOX development and subsequent compliance program, including coordination with SOX service providers and the external auditors
Team with Marin's business leaders and FP&A team to understand budget implications and implement planning strategies for these accounting issues
Partner with accounting team during monthly internal close, including drafting the summary of all accounting matters during the period
Lead accounting policy standardization efforts
Team with HR for FAS123R accounting (including valuation and forecasting) and administration
Provide accounting support for all Marin's sales and strategic arrangement opportunities
Partner with Marin's General Counsel to develop a formalized internal review process for all sales and expense contracts
Lead historical financial statement audits for foreign subsidiaries including audit preparation and coordination with foreign audit firms
Assist in development and documentation of the company´s accounting/financial control and manual
Remain current through trainings and other events on all SEC, SOX, and Technical Accounting issues
Lead and support ad hoc special projects as required
Experience & Requirements
Bachelors Degree required in Accounting or Finance
6 – 8 years experience with Big 4 public accounting firm preferred
CPA required
IPO audit experience required
Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley frameworks
Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
Strong team work, collaboration, flexibility and pro-activeness
