SRI International´s Corporate and Marketing Communications department develops and implements strategic, integrated programs in marketing, public relations, and staff communications to meet SRI´s business objectives. We are building a new website for SRI and are seeking a web content producer/manager to join our team.
You will be responsible for delivering results that are consistent with SRI's business and website strategies and objectives, and web trends and best practices. In collaboration with other members of the department and staff throughout SRI, you will interpret business, marketing, and communications strategies into creative and results-driven web approaches. You will be required to acquire knowledge of SRI and to understand the nature of the institute to develop appropriate web content. As a web and SRI brand champion, you will convey the SRI story effectively through the website and relevant social media channels to meet both business objectives and end-user needs. Providing specialized and in-depth knowledge of the web, you will produce and write content, initiate creative ideas, develop new approaches, and implement solutions—all designed to deliver a stellar user experience.
You must be technically proficient, as you will work closely with SRI's web developer and IT department to apply web best practices, including implementation and scalability of our Drupal CMS and other technical solutions, documentation of procedures, effective use of Google analytics, search engine optimization (SEO), and new feature implementation for ongoing robustness of the site. Experience with functional specs, wireframes, and usability testing is a plus.
The successful candidate will be able to plan and execute an editorial calendar and multiple projects simultaneously. You must be able to develop project schedules, meet customer expectations, and engage colleagues to produce results. You must have excellent interpersonal, writing, and time and project management skills. You must be able to work as a team member and with minimal supervision.
Job responsibilities will include developing and implementing project plans and serving as project manager; managing work flow and processes; ensuring the integrity of the site architecture and navigation; reviewing work to ensure quality; writing, reviewing, and editing content; ensuring conformance with editorial guidelines; managing the production of multimedia content; working with consultants/vendors as needed; using the web content management system; making site updates; developing and applying (SEO) techniques; [I think this is more the developer's job]; using web analytics to optimize business results and user experience; and tracking and reporting on site metrics. Initial focus will be on SRI's external website and will expand to SRI's intranet and online collaboration tools. You may also play a role in web governance at SRI.
Experience and Education
BA/BS in English, marketing, or related field, and at least 5 years of web experience are required. Also essential is expert knowledge of web best practices, trends, and industry standards. You must be proficient with rich media, Drupal, CSS, HTML, and Microsoft Office Suite, and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite. Experience working in a scientific or high-tech organization is strongly preferred. Applicants must provide a portfolio of websites for which they have been responsible. This is a new, full-time, on-site position. Relocation assistance is not available.
