Human Resource Assistant position w/Bilingual Spanish  -for Simmons Bedding-  Los Angeles, California         

 

Reports To:   Human Resources Manager   

Location/Department:  Los Angeles, CA / Human Resources

Salary Grade:   5       

FLSA Status:   Full-Time Exempt

 

Summary: Human Resources  related duties in a manufacturing facility

 

Essential Duties and  Responsibilities

-Maintain records for Affirmative Action program.

-Assist with drug tests and background checks.

-Enter personnel requisitions, applicants, promotions, and new hires into PeopleSoft.

-Post job openings internally and externally on various job board sites.

-Schedule panel interviews and phone screens

-Initiate background checks on potential new hires

-Monitor background check progress and review results

-Serve as primary contact for background check vendor

-Coordinate drug screens for candidates who are offered positions

-Responsible for preparing new hire orientation documents.

-Monitor associates on LOA.

-Participate on and coordinate events such as on-site cookouts, Associate Picnic, training classes, monthly factory meetings, etc.

-Administer factory attendance program. Coordinate sick leave, sick days, jury duty, bereavement, vacation and required paperwork. Record attendance and track for warnings due under the policy. Submit to HR Manager for final review and approval.

-Administer factory employee orientations. Ensure required paperwork for I-9 is kept up to date. 

-Maintain factory associate records and files, updating information into PeopleSoft HRIS, scheduling panel interviews, etc. Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing and photocopying.

-Participate on Safety Committee by attending scheduled meetings, ensuring Chairperson is taking notes and meetings are productive.

-Participate on Wellness Committee by attending scheduled meetings, ensuring Chairperson is taking notes and meetings are productive.

-Print and distribute Benefit Enrollment forms to associates.  Answer questions about benefit coverage and enroll associate in designated plans. 

-Print and distribute Benefit Confirmation forms and check for any errors in data entry upon receipt.

-Track 30/60/90 day New Hire Probationary Review Forms

-Update Staffing Report to include new hires and the removal of terminated employees.

-Track 90 day completion dates to administer Associate Referral bonuses, Safety Shoe Reimbursement, and Prescription Safety Glasses reimbursement. 

-Gather information to update the Plant Matters presentation weekly.

-Creates posters for events, updates, etc. for posting throughout the factory.

-Assist in projects as assigned by Human Resource Manager.

 

Position Qualifications

-MS Office, HRIS, time and attendance computer software program, etc

-Excellent organizational/time-management skills.  Ability to follow-up/follow-through on projects.

-Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Education/Experience

-3-5 years related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

-Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources preferred or equivalent work experience

-High School diploma or equivalent
