Title: Supply Chain Buyer/Planner
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 12+ months
Job Summary:
- Performs buying, materials inventory and production planning responsibilities to ensure efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives. Leads one or more supply planning processes and manages various collaborative initiatives. Identifies and presents potential strategies to improve costs and supply chain processes as well as manages risks and opportunities for assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Supplier Relations and Product Delivery (40% Job Weight)
- Successfully collaborate with Customers and Suppliers with a focus on long-term profitability and simplicity of process design.
- Own negotiation, buying, planning, and logistics responsibilities as assigned. Requires ability to effectively prioritize time and resources to optimize business results.
Analysis
- Assess inventory levels and forecasts to make appropriate business decisions that minimize costs and achieve supply chain budget and service level objectives.
- Develop detailed understanding of manufacturing capabilities and constraints. Willing to challenge constraints and identify capacity issues in an ever changing environment.
- Identify ways to improve supply planning processes and tools.
- Track and reconcile weekly/monthly metrics versus established targets.
Change Leadership
- Achieve super user status on various planning and inventory management tools, including leading training sessions and being key point of contact for respective platform or function.
- Provide supply chain input for business team regarding forecasting, industries (ingredients and packaging), production planning and development.
- Lead special projects as required, including complex packaging initiatives. Increase product value through cost savings and product improvement projects.
Skills:
- Degree and 3+ years of related experience are required
- Ensure that orders are delivered on time and at cost.
- Resolve billing and shipping problems and provide information to suppliers.
- Identify suppliers, select merchandise and negotiate bills of sale for a business.
- Inspect deliveries for shipping errors, improper handling, or quality issues.
