[KITlist] Graphics Project Manager for Children's Products (Downtown, San Francisco, CA)

Artistic Studios is hiring! We need a Graphics Project Manager to follow new product development from initial sketch to final manufactured sample, making sure all milestones are met on time with the best quality result. If you are more of a true project manager vs a designer who's had management responsibilities, you might be perfect for this position!

Artistic Studios is a product development company headquartered in San Francisco, which designs, sources and distributes innovative and interactive books and crafts for children. Featuring top licenses such as Disney and Hasbro, the company distributes its product throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as certain European countries, the UK and Asia.

Position Summary

Job responsibilities:
• Outline all key components necessary to development of item, and facilitate graphic production or vendor use
• Meet with other project managers to schedule time of graphics staff
• Attend company production meetings to address status of projects
• Gather key information and details necessary to keep project moving forward
• Work with art director, graphics team, and licensing partners to find most creative solutions
• Communicate with overseas production teams for review of samples, and progress checks
• Communicate with licensors (Disney, MGA, etc.) to get artwork approvals
• Demonstrate a strong visual design orientation and ability to produce high quality graphic work.
• Follow lead of art director to build book interiors, covers, coloring pages, etc.
• Design to meet licensor requirements (style guides)
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines

We offer a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, and a competitive salary and benefits to regular, full time employees. We would ideally like to start people off on a freelance basis but we're open to making full time hires. The pay range is approximately $25 per hour, depending on experience. Qualifications:
• Comprehension of print production, file creation, print template creating, proofing, press checks, vendor sourcing.
• Ability to multitask and handle several projects at one time, keeping all on track.
• Must be willing to work extra hours, and motivate team to work extra hours to make sure projects meet deadlines.
• Willingness to lead strongly and take responsibility for success of project.
• 3+ years of experience designing consumer products for a variety of industries and clients – children's' products preferred.
• A broad understanding of design and usability technology.
• Competent knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts.
• Excellent information design (must have the ability to conceptualize and articulate solutions).
• Must be self-directed yet a team player who is willing to accept a full range of responsibilities and roles.
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
• BFA or equivalent education is preferred but not required.
• Flexible – able to handle multiple project changes in one day as well as last minute changes and additions.
• Mastery of Mac-based design programs, Adobe Illustrator (Expert level!) and Photoshop – CS3 fluency is critical.
• Clean, organized design sense.

It would be great if you had:
• Experience with licensed imagery (Disney, Hasbro, etc).
• Experience with consumer product design and development.
• Enthusiasm or interest in the Disney brand.
