[JimsJobs] Sr Director, Litigation- SanDisk Corporation- Milpitas, CA

In this position, the individual will be responsible for directly managing SanDisk litigation worldwide.  This responsibility encompasses simultaneously managing multiple litigations such as plaintiff and defendant patent litigation (in United States district courts, the International Trade Commission and non-U.S. litigation in Europe and Asia), antitrust litigation (including litigation relating to pricing, licensing, technical standards), mergers/acquisition-related, securities, class actions, commercial, and other litigation.  The position will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer of SanDisk but will also work closely with other attorneys in the legal department.

The position requires someone who has demonstrated the ability to develop a strong understanding of business operations and to analyze the financial and strategic significance of actual and potential litigation for SanDisk.  The position requires an individual with actual litigation experience and substantial experience managing multiple litigations and associated law firms.  It is important that the individual be prepared to engage in "hands on" management of litigation and interact effectively and efficiently with outside counsel.  The individual should have significant experience participating in settlement negotiations involving IP licensing disputes, as well as mediations.

The selected individual must have the ability to think strategically, exercise seasoned judgment and work well on teams.  The individual must also have the ability to set the litigation budgets for the department and individual litigation matters and the skills to achieve those budgetary goals.  Communication skills are critically important for this position.  The selected individual will also advise the executive team and various business units on pre-litigation, litigation and department matters.

This position requires that the individual be a practicing attorney who is currently admitted to practice law in one or more jurisdictions, preferably California.  There is strong preference for attorneys with substantial direct experience in litigation such as 7-10 years of litigation and trial experience with a reputable law firm and 3-5 years experience in-house at a publicly traded corporation managing litigation.  The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling intellectual property litigation, and preferably have a technical degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering).  He or she must be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.  He or she should be prepared to travel (domestically and internationally) and enjoy working on a cross-functional basis in a fast paced environment.
