Description:
Client is looking for an experienced HP OpenView administrator to provide support, expertise and administration of their current monitoring environment. In addition to managing the exsitign HP OpenView environment, the administrator will also be expected to assist as needed in the evaluation and implementation of a replacement monitoring tool

Experience / Skills Needed:
1) Experience administering, maintaining and troubleshooting the following products:
HP OpenView NNM v7.53
HP OpenView NNM-I v9.x
HP Performance Manager v8.2
HP Operations Manager v8.1
HP OpenView Internet Services (OVIS) v6.1
HP NNM 7.5 Data Warehousing using Oracle
2) Strong scripting experience using PERL, VBS and JYTHON
3) Strong experience configuring SNMP MIBS, traps and alerting thresholds
4) Strong networking knowledge including ports, protocols and types of equipment
5) Ability to manage HP NNM on a HPUX server
6) Ability to install agents on servers with various operating systems including SUSE and Red Hat LINUX, HPUX, AIX and Windows.
7) Ability to manage JBoss on an NNMi server?
8) Very strong communication skills with State customers and technical staff
9) Experience implementing and upgrading new software packages such as NNM -to- NNMi
10) Ideally candidate would have experience with What's Up Gold
Expected Duties:
Patch, maintain and test HPOV application, console and agent software on each system
Remove existing HPOV SPI and nWorks software which is no longer being used
Create, maintain, update and test HPOV alert email and ticket creation scripts on each system (PERL)
Create, maintain, update and test HPOV report, system health check and policy scripts on each system (PERL, VBS and JYTHON)
Push upgrades to HPOV agent software on servers
Troubleshoot and repair any problems with HPOV agent installation on monitored servers
Configure Device SNMP Settings
Familiar with ports and protocols typically used in HP OpenView environments
Add devices to OpenView products
Provide product expertise to help map business needs to the State owned OpenView product's capabilities
Create, test, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot custom policies (some are VBS or PERL)
Create, test, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot dynamic views scripts (PERL)
Install and configure MIBs on NNM Server
Administer and debug security issues for all OpenView products
Knowledge with the ability to manage and troubleshoot NNM data warehousing on an Oracle database
Create, maintain and troubleshoot report templates and scripts (including custom reports)
Create, maintain and troubleshoot new customers, service groups, service objectives, targets, notification templates and enable probes
Request device or probe to be put in maintenance mode to stop RMS ticket creation. Email alerts will still be sent
Mentor and train State technical staff as needed
Provide best-practice expertise on how best to configure and utilize monitoring systems
Assist in setting up and configuring other monitoring tools as part of the evaluation or implementation of another monitoring tool (current Proof Of Concept is with "What's Up Gold")
