POSITION TITLE: Survey Data Analyst

LOCATION: Kentfield, CA

We are looking for a proven Analyst who will share our passion for creating superb data-driven reports and trend analyses for our world-class clients in the dynamic industries we serve.

Company:
We are a consulting firm that for 30 years has been producing high quality surveys and compensation consulting expertise for leading companies in five industries – software games, digital content and technology, animated film, television and cable networks and cable operators. Our client list includes the most influential leaders in their respective industries as well as emerging companies in dynamic industries.

Position Description:
As a Survey Data Analyst, you will use your expert-level Excel skills, analytical ability and technical aptitude to help drive every aspect of our annual survey process. Our Annual Survey process involves preparing for and attending planning meetings, participating in questionnaire development, analyzing data submissions and following-up with clients, to intense data preparation, data cleaning, data transformation and analysis, and finally report writing and editing. Day-to-day this means you will spend a lot of your time working with large Excel data sets.

• Roughly 25% of the time you will analyze survey submissions and work directly with participants to understand, clarify and complete their responses.
• About 10% of the time you will compile databases and work with macros in Excel and Access, then analyze and clean the data.
• Roughly 15% of the time you will write syntax / scripts for our statistical software (SPSS) to "crunch" the data, produce draft reports and test the data before running the final report.
• The remaining 50% of the time you will be involved with activities that vary with each phase of each survey cycle, including preparing analyses for presentations, running special analyses of the survey data, editing reports, workbooks and presentations. You also will be relied on to improve processes through workflow efficiencies and automation.

Skills:
This job requires a combined focus on both the smallest detail and the "big picture." Our ideal candidate must share our compulsive passion for creating the highest quality work product, constant learning and continued technical improvement. Our way of doing things is unique and during your first year you must expect a steep learning curve. You will be a key member of the survey team and you will be relied on to help us meet our deadlines, especially during our publishing seasons. During known publishing crunch times, and occasionally, we require additional hours and some weekend hours to meet required deadlines. Other requirements include:

• BA or BS in statistics, business, economics, finance, or a related field
• Advanced Excel skills (as demonstrated on our Excel skills test), exposure to macros mandatory; familiarity with statistical software (SPSS); experience with database software (Access a plus); some coding/scripting (Java Script); ability to quickly develop advanced skills in the software we use; strong technical aptitude
• Excellent English language skills: oral and written
• 2+ years of quantitative data analysis
• Compulsively accurate
• Able to manage own work and deadlines; adept at multi-tasking and adapting to meet shifting priorities
• Commitment to the highest work quality and customer service
• Ability to think about "a better way to get it done"
• Experience working in a consulting firm or deadline-driven entrepreneurial environment a plus
