Please direct your responses to: newdoorjobs@gmail.com

New Door Ventures, is a growing and innovative non-profit in the Mission district of San Francisco, recognized locally and nationally for its work with youth. But for New Door, it's about more than recognition. It's about developing vulnerable young people and building a community of support so that together, we can help each of the 8,000 disconnected youth in San Francisco make a successful transition to adulthood and lead productive and meaningful lives.

At New Door Ventures, we prepare at-risk youth for work and for life. We provide paid jobs, skill-building, and individual support which enable our youth to discover and achieve their potential. We aim to transform individuals who will in turn transform their communities. We provide job internships through over two dozen partnering businesses, and we also place interns in our two social purpose enterprises (Ashbury Images and Pedal Revolution). 87 percent of our graduates move on to paid employment, further education or both following program completion.

New Door Ventures is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO). The CDO is the leader responsible for meeting the fundraising goals for the organization, in cooperation with our active, fundraising board and CEO. The position is responsible for the planning, execution, control and evaluation of fundraising. He/she will develop the overall fundraising strategy for the organization; set department goals; set development committee goals along with the committee chair(s); personally cultivate and solicit major donors and funders; manage, support and train fundraising staff and volunteers; design fundraising programs with staff and the board development committee; evaluate events/programs; develop and implement stewardship plans; and model being an effective ambassador for the organization.

The successful candidate is a proven leader with demonstrated results in leading a team to achieve progressive revenue growth through relationship management as well as cohesive fundraising and communication programs. The ideal candidate has a track record of success in personally cultivating and soliciting over $1M in philanthropic support from individual donors and private foundations. Working closely with staff and Board members, the Chief Development Officer will have the proactive drive and infectious enthusiasm that will motivate individuals to support New Door and will motivate staff and volunteers to achieve their development-related goals.

This position reports to the CEO and is a member of the senior leadership team. In addition to leading the Development function, this individual is also expected to contribute to the leadership of the entire organization both operationally and strategically, and to frequently participate in board meetings.

New Door is a creative, high-performing youth development organization with great momentum to achieve its strategic goal of providing over 2000 paid internships to high-risk 16-21 year olds in San Francisco, and to be a model solution for the growing youth employment problem nationwide. It has an annual budget of about $5M of which $3M is generated by its own social enterprises. New Door is also in the midst of a three-year $10M integrated fundraising campaign and has raised over $7M of that goal in the first 18 months.
