Description and Responsibilities

DCG Systems has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Customer Support Engineer.  In this position you will provide first line support, maintenance, and application assistance to customers. You will perform preventive maintenance, installation and product upgrades as needed. Additionally, you will act as the site manager for a major DCG customer located in San Diego. Working closely with the customer, DCG account manager and service manager you will be responsible for understanding and representing the customer's support needs to the DCG support and sales organizations. You will be able to set and communicate expectations internally to DCG and externally to the customer.

 

To be successful in this position you will have excellent oral and written communication skills as daily communication with internal and external customers is required as is the timely completion of installation, escalation, and service-call reports.   You schedule must be flexible as  extended work hours will be needed on occasion to meet the requirements of our customers.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

 

  • 5-7 years' experience in a similar position
  • 2-3 years customer management experience
  • Solid oral/written communication and organizational skills
  • Travel and work extended hours on an as-needed basis
  • Desire to learn, impact development of new technologies and improve quality
  • Great inter-personnel skills
  • Customer satisfaction (centric) orientation
  • A drive to create and add value
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter with desire to advance
  • Ability to work weekend shift

 

Preferred:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Military Equivalent
  • Software programming experience (shell script, C, etc.) is highly desired
  • Experience with any of the following debug/characterization tools and/or methodologies:  Optics, Lasers, Time-resolved Emission, Photon Emission Microscopy, Thermal Emission, Infrared Thermography, LSM, Focused Ion Beam, Electron Beam, and/or Vacuum systems

Performance Skills

 

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and software problems.
  • Ability to manage key customers with specific deliverables
  • Ability to read, understand and follow written troubleshooting procedures
  • Ability to interface with customer on a daily basis.

Education

  • BSET or equivalent technical degree, or equivalent military  training experienceAdditional Information
