Position Summary:
The Alternatives Systems team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer in the Alternatives Rapid Solution group to help develop and deliver solutions for Asset Allocation and Global Derivatives investment teams. In addition to working in a dynamic team that is well known for its attention to detail and excellent delivery record, this role will require close interactions with the Investment teams, Engineering teams from other business units, Business analysts, Enterprise Architects and Infrastructure teams across IS department.
This position requires proficiency and experience in software development using Java based and other technologies, understanding of business workflows including prior experience working in investment firms, and excellent communication skills. A CFA designation or a demonstrated progress towards achieving the CFA Charter will be a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Interact with Investment professionals at all levels of the organization as needed, to proactively identify opportunities for new/improved systems to improve the investment process.
· Lead the implementation of business solutions in conjunction with the technical development
· Perform gap analysis between investment process and existing systems
· Interface and coordinate with the broad Information Services teams to ensure successful delivery
· Demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills with ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic fast paced environment
Required Skills and Competencies:
· 7+ years of experience as a Software Developer supporting application development life cycles
· Strong understanding of Object Oriented concepts
· Demonstrated experience of Design and Development using Java based technologies.
· In depth knowledge and experience of the Spring Framework.
· Strong understanding and proven experience with technologies such as Web-Services, XML/XSLT, JSON is required.
· Experience with .NET, C# and excel development is a plus
· Understanding and Experience with building performance (Speed and Accuracy) critical applications is required
· Experience with web applications and Javascript frameworks including ExtJS or Angular is desired.
· Must possess PL/SQL programming and SQL tuning skills
· Experience with AWS is a plus
· Must be comfortable with test driven development and Continuous Integration (JUnit, Hudson, Code Coverage)
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline (Master’s Degree is Preferred)
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Willingness to work independently in an energetic, fast-paced, business-critical and team oriented-environment
· Demonstrated experience in problem-solving skills and delivery of quality solutions with good mathematical acumen.
· A strong team player, with ability to work in collaboration across teams.
· Strong understanding of financial concepts and knowledge of Equity and Fixed Income Instruments is highly desirable
· Familiarity with Matlab or any other financial toolkit is a strong plus

1. This is a Lead level role seeking very strong Java skills.
2. Technical: core Java, multi-threading, Web Services, XML, Spring, Hibernate and Oracle.
3. Technical Leadership skills are required.
4. Excellent communication skills are required as this role will directly interface with Investment professionals.
5. Financial Services is a required. The candidate will likely come out of a Buy side, Sell side or Financial Software vendor.
